Vtg. Red Cafe Racer Leather Jacket, Sz. M

Another oldie. Tag(s) fell off, no clue who the maker is. I do know however that this jacket was styled after an earliest Brooks pattern - back seam; inside sleeve zippers; etc. - and that it was made either in the UK or Canada. Possibly Brimaco but that's just me guessing. Extremely cool, unique piece.

It's an old jacket, in any case. Early 70's, I'd wager. That's judging by the hardware, which is the same as what Lewis Leathers was using during at the time. And Brimaco.

Aside from being extremely freaking red, the leather is quite thick albeit soft and subtle. Old school stuff. The jacket has a decent heft to it while being easy wearing.
Two zippered chest pockets, one zippered inside pocket. Full action back (held in place by an elastic band). Note that this is a true motorcycle jacket. It's not (just) for the show. Leather is Schott/LL grade.

Very light surface grime here and there (visible only 'cause it's so red) but otherwise, it's in a flawless condition. No damage, inside or out. Stitches are holding strong, lining is intact, no fraying, no holes, nothing. Hardware fully operational. No rust. Absolutely no smell. Pocket bags clean.

Right, you can easily clean the jacket yourself. I've tried wiping off some of the grimy areas it with a dry towel and it went off easily as it's mostly just dust but I thought the jacket looks better as it was, so... Up to you. But yeah, you can have it shine again with minimal effort.

Anyway, I've never once seen a red CR quite like it. Definitely not a vintage one. The color really works for the CR. It's beyond beautiful.

I'm selling it only 'cause I just don't wear it. I never reach for it so what's the point in having it hanging in the closet? Had it on maybe five times altogether in the few years I've owned it. Aside from it being a tad too small for me, it's, well, a bit too red. I guess I don't have what it takes... It gets attention.
I had plans to smudge it with black shoe paste to make it resemble one of those Soul Revolver red CR's but I never did... It'd look cooler but it'd still be too small.

...which brings us to size. Tag says it's a 42 but I'd say it a lot smaller than that. Or maybe this is what a 42 used to be back in the day? Closer to 38, I'd say. I'm 40, I can zip it up but it's fits skin tight.
In any case, please make sure to be guided by the measurements below.

• P2P: 21.5"
• Shoulder width: 17.5"
• Waist width (at the narrowest point): 19"
• Opening hem width: 19.5" (or more, since the zipper stops short a good 3" above)
• Sleeve length: 27" (following the outside curvature of the sleeve) / 26" (measured straight across)
• Back length (w/o collar): 26"

Seriously form fitting jacket, hence waist and opening hem widths.

There you have it. Very tough, hard wearing, extremely, utterly cool motorcycle cafe racer jacket. So if you're after a proper red CR, this is it. If not, I don't mind keeping it. I doubt I'll ever find another one like it.

Asking $300. Not in a hurry to sell it. Short of finding one just like it, you won't find one just like it. :3

Any questions whatsoever, don't hesitate to ask. Just drop me a PM. Thanks for looking!

Looks like a main zip that Brimaco uses but doesn't have the hand pockets, just noticed the three neck snaps, and center seam down back - all not Brimaco/British Cycle leather elements. Doesn't mean it isn't from Canada.

Jacket looks like a great quality piece! I've almost never come across this color on a CR without some bizarre padding added.

It's pretty much almost the same as an early Brooks. Although not made by Brooks. Of course. I love the three snaps! It's an awesome jacket. Coolest I have. Red is just wild.

Shipping to the EU included in the price, forgot to say. Maybe elsewhere but I need to check.

Some recent photos. Took them just now. Really awesome jacket.

$250
plus shipping. Will throw in free shipping for the UK as I know it's only like $15 from where I am. Elsewhere, we'll sort something out.

You can see it's actually perfectly clean. Didn't even realize how nicer it looks now that I've had it.

This is a very nice looking CR. Looks like it cleaned up really well, too. How did you clean it?

Paper towels. Simple as that. The jacket wasn't dirty - I mean, the leather wasn't stained or anything, just got a bit dusty from the exhaust smoke. Came off instantly. The leather is very tough and smooth, doesn't soak up easily. It's super soft, pliable and just completely healthy, no sign of aging anywhere on it. :)

So nice there Ivan! Way too small for me, but someone will get a very unique piece, in awesome condition with this one. Monitor is excellent to work with by the way! I've worked with him on a few jackets and always top-notch for service, communication and friendliness! :)

Thank you, R, for the kind words! :D I appreciate it. It's an awesome jacket, yep. Size larger, I'd keep it.

Still available, in any case. I won't go lower than what I'm asking now so... It's better than many jackets I've had. Would rather keep it if there's no interest. :)
