Looking at this Original Irwin which is local and not too wildly priced. Only makes sense to me if I can actually wear it.

Seller says the leather is dry but not fried, main zipper is England DOT marked and functional. No belt, shearling at about 75-80%.

I'd give it a recondition and then off to the races (unless of course you all tell me I'm crazy).

Really looking forward to hearing what you think.

Cheers,

M.

You may be better off buying a reproduction if your going to wear it . There are good manufacturers out there who make accurate irvins.

I do not see what should speak against wearing such a jacket as well. After all, that's what it's made for and the condition doesn't seem good enough for a collector's item. So go ahead.
Personally, it would be too old for me. No idea if this jacket can withstand a wash, but without one I would not put it on. But I also prefer to be the first owner of my jackets. In that respect, I'm not a yardstick.

There's patina and there's thrashed, and for me that would be too old/worn for me to want to put it on, but different strokes for different folks
