Peter Fox used to have even cuter shoes in their non-bridal line--they seem to have discontined a few of them since I last looked.

Jennifer Connelly wore a pair of their shoes in A Beautiful Mind:

BTW, I love your dress too! That looks like a Dark Gardens corset over it...

Actually, all of the brides look just so beautiful!

Thanks, Miss Dottie. :) It is, actually, the whole dress was made by Dark Garden.

I had intended to make my own or, ideally, find a great vintage one, but my sister wanted to go check out a sample sale (fancy dresses 75%-90% off) since she was in town so I went along to get an idea for what shapes and details I liked on me, and I found this one and just about keeled over. The whole dress-buying experience took forty-five minutes from when we showed up at the store to when I left with the dress.

That place is so beyond fabulous that I teared up at a couple of items looking through what they had. They have the most exquisite swing coat that I PRAY Santa will bring me :)

You too? Boy, I think I was actually having heart palpitations! Gorgeous stuff!

My Great grandmother was a fashion designer/dress maker and she specialised in wedding gowns. When I come back from my trip in Brisbane I will bring back some photos of some of the wedding gowns she made and scan them into the computer (they are currently in my mothers posession).;)

I think I've told this story before, but it fits this thread so I'll repeat it.
We were going to have a 1940s inspired wedding with a Casablanca feel.
I found the perfect vintage 1940s dress and we started planning the details around that.
We decided to show a family friend the dress and I tried it on for her,but as I walked into the room I stumbled and put my heel through the dress ripping it.
We didn't think it could be repaired.(Should have looked into it,but I think my mother was a bit against it and convinced me)
It was difficult finding a new dress and dis-heartening.
Finally,I found a beautiful dress more 1950s Audrey than 1940s in it's inspiration and we decided to change the theme to vintage-inspired with no emphasis on era.
We picked a little inspiration from each era we loved and I did display that much-loved vintage dress so that it was still part of my day.
The wedding turned out beautifully and I still felt pretty!

You can see a bit of the 1940s dress on the left.

My favorite shot, these are from a friend and we don't have a great close-up of me in my dress, but you can get the feel.

A bridesmaid and our "reverend" in yellow.(Our rev is the one who introduced us and we asked her to perform the ceremony, she became ordained online)

Our cake inspired by Deco architecture.

I changed after the cake cutting,so we could cut a rug.( I have to admit that wedding dress was the most uncomfortable thing I've ever worn and I was so happy to change, oddly all my friends thought my dance dress looked more like me and that's the dress they all still talk about how pretty and perfect it was.Found it at Dillards on sale for $35))

Here we are waiting with my maid of honor for our limo to return.(He left without us,everyone gets a "crazy thing that happened at our wedding story")
My bouquet(again not a great pic) was inspired by bouquets of the 1930s when they used ribbon streamers and tied "lover's knots" in them.
It was believed that the knots held well wishes and whoever caught the bouquet would untie a knot of their choice and that wish came true.

My best wishes go out to all of those planning weddings,it is such an exciting time, but it ends in the blink of an eye.
Don't forget to stop and take those little moments in!
