Vintage Things That Have Disappeared In Your Lifetime?

I don't care much for people 'in my bubble' so it makes me really uncomfortable.
The last time I hugged anybody was back in April when one of my best friends passed away. It was the time and place for such a thing. I was very close with him and his family and you do what is necessary to comfort people who matter to you. Outside of such circumstances, I think it's just odd to be overly affectionate in public.

You should stay away from the South. Here there are a lot of people who will continue putting their hands on your knee or shoulder even if you ask them not to and many people get offended if you don't want to hug them whenever you see them. Of course they know I only feel that way because I am a Yankee.

I have found some nice pieces in the South but a lot of areas have been picked so much that everyone thinks the junk that is left is solid gold.

Since I look for rather unusual pieces I can usually find a few good things just about anywhere.

Most of the stuff here has been picked three or four times already over the course of its lifetime. Most of the town dumps have "swap shops" now so the transplants can pick without being seen, but the picking was better when you just went straight to the skips and dug in.

I miss those days, as well. I also miss when the Goodwill and the St. Vinnie's didn't think they were high-end antique shops. It's getting tough for guys like me these days.

This is my family; we hug when something major happens like deaths or divorces, but never casually. Grown-ups holding hands baffles me. I really don't get the point.

This could be cultural thing or a family thing. My wife and I still hold hands whenever we go out, and that's after twenty-plus years of marriage. We generally hold hands at the movies, although it's tough when you're holding one of those monster-sized tubs of popcorn.

My kids still get a occasionally hug even at the ages of 14, 18, and 22. At church there are hugs. When we get together at friends' houses we generally greet and part with hugs. Kisses, not so much.

Ok, this is not so politically correct, however I carry a nice Flask full of jamison whisky in the breast pocket of my vintage blazer or suit jacket.
Also have a 32 gun in my pocket for fun and got the razon in the shoe.
