Vintage Things That Have Disappeared In Your Lifetime?

I suggest a more traditional family car.

Those can stay in the past!

If it were a 57 Nomad then it wouldn't be so bad. Those four door wagons are for people way older than me. :p

I'm less than half your age and have 3 4-door wagons. I've never owned a two-door car, outside of my two pickup trucks.

On that note, how many doors does that Exxon, um....I meant Escalade of yours have?

I can't agree more. I am a delivery driver for the brown company and when I need a signature on my electronic pad many of the kids can't write in cursive.Let me rephrase this. Many of the young adults can't remember how to write in cursive. I understand that writing a letter by hand will probably never happen again but please, not knowing how to write your name!!!!!!!!!!! Now let me get started on video games, 15 years ago the summer time was a hard time to deliver, the kids would all be outside playing basketball or something and would always try and hang on the bumper of my truck and hitch free rides, now I am stunned to see anyone outside. Playing video is now the king of exercise and entertainment. Oh how we have regressed!!!!!

SUV's are overrated. The family wagon is much nicer, not so high up and not such a pump-sucker lugging that 4x4 chassis around.

Revised translation to keep up with the changing times: Escalade = Thug gangster.
:(
Fortunately:
Nomad= Cool.

How about *downtown* gas stations. Nowadays you'd be hard pressed to find an actual gas station within the downtown area of a town or city -- they're usually out on the Miracle Mile, not right in the middle of everything.

This is the corner of Main and Winter Streets, Rockland Maine in 1936. The building in the background is the theatre where I work, but the filling station has long since been replaced by a building that currently houses an upscale bakery. The "Fireproof Garage" advertised on the side of the theatre is still standing, but it's now a series of art galleries. So if you want to actually buy some gasoline right in town, tough luck.

(And for that matter, Tydol -- once the largest-selling brand of gasoline on the East Coast -- is long gone too.)
