Please post pics of your children wearing THEIR vintage or vintage inspired clothing. Please include how old they are, and do tell us about the outfit if you have any info.

vintage suit on our DD

Here is our 14/-1/2 dd Sarah in her vintage 1940's suit, this print skirt is actually a second skirt that also came with the jacket, the other is black to match.

Detail of skirt, USN insignias all around the border hem.

vintage shirt on our DS

Here is 12-1/2 ds Daniel wearing his vintage authentic WWII USN shirt. I had to take up the sleeve two cuff lengths! The patch on the right sleeve is that of a Petty Officer Third Class Gunner's Mate. The yellow emblem patch on the right front is that of a "ruptured duck" for an honorable discharge.

This picture was taken at the Awhahnee Hotel in Yosemite Nat'l Park at their Heritage Holidays event with the Art Deco Society.

Alas, I don't have any children. If I did have any, I'm not sure I'd want ANOTHER head to aquire a set a lids for. Looking after my own is expensive enough.:p

Jan 2009 Post shopping trip

so they weren't decked out, but wanted to get pics in the new vintage.
Caroline (13) and the first vintage dress we have been able to find to fit her.

And Emily (17) she wore this dress to Winterball with silver heels and her fox fur thigh length coat I got her for Christmas. She decided that this is a Leisel Von Trapp dress ... maybe,IDK

Sadly around here I am the youngest (23) individual who is into vintage that I know of. I'd love to see some kids pick up the style. Sadly though the whole goth and punk theme seems to be competing against the "gangsta" look in the 13-19 age group. With a few preppy kids to mix in, and a few into the long hair urban style.

Some of the goths actually have decent cloths, but sadly seem to think black is the only color God intended man and woman to wear. Although they tend to look more neo-Victorian meets 1980's subculture, then vintage. Others prefer to wear a black t-shirt, tight jeans, and long black wet hair. I tend to do all I can not to laugh at time (more so at their "gangsta" competition then them admittedly), but since the feeling is usually mutual it is what it is.

chanteuseCarey, and Barbigirl congrats on having some finely dressed kids :eusa_clap.

the girls both look WONDERFUL! (tell 'em another Mom said so...

These are GREAT dresses and they look perfect on them:eusa_clap . I'll show the pics of the girls in their vintage dresses to my Sarah. Sarah has more of a figure suited for a 20's look, though at the three vintage fashion shows she has modeled for, she gets put in victorian /edwardian things because she is so tiny! The 20s style can be perhaps a bit intimidating for one so young. Your girls are very inspirational, and very pretty too:)

I hear your pain Tiller...

I don't think there are ANY kids or young adults into vintage around here... So they were quite a hit at the Art Deco event. There they met 10 yo brother/sister twins, but they had no vintage clothes.

Our kids and DH and I all have light hair, light complexion, so black is not a good clothes color choice-except of course men's formal wear. I remember walking back through DD middle school after kissing and hugging her byebye at homeroom (yeah she wanted me to do that-also radical), and it was a sea of black clothes and too tight jeans. Can you say follow the herd? Mooo...

Daniel just recently got his first 50-60s fedora and loves it. No kids wear anything like that either. The Art Deco Society events, ballroom dancing, church, and the Pops Orchestra volunteering is where he can get dressed up and truly fit in-but its mainly a world of adults. They are always very appreciative 'audience', so its good, positive reinforcement. With all this and the places we go, its bringing them the opportunity to learn to navigate in a world of adults and learn to behave appropriately. That's a good thing.

the childrens photos are marvelous. I am so proud of my son and wife and the way they have raised our grandaughters. They are 10 and 11 and I can take them into any antique store, give them some money and let them roam freely knowing they will respect the items and I love even watching the shop owners when the girls ask them ?'s and wheel and deal with them very respectfully. They know how to act correctly in restaurants and anywhere.
Congratulations to all the parents out their being parents.

My chickees' figures are oppposites. At almost 14  we have a curvy hourglass, and my older is very slender who would look great in 20's styles -- happily we are open to most eras.

thanks Barbigirl...

She's 5'5" now- I think. I'm 5-3-1/2", and for a long time she was my height. Now that she is taller than I am, she makes sure she lets everyone know it! :) How tall are yours? Are they on FL? Sarah wants to be...
