Of the ones I have, I like the Ray-Ban Clubmaster the best.

But does anyone know what brand sunglasses Nick Cage was wearing in the new National Treasure movie??????

I'm not sure what brand they were, but I'm pretty sure there are some Ray Bans that look just like them.

I too liked the glasses in the movie. Great shape. Although I didn't find the colors very appealing :eusa_doh:

They bear a striking resemblence to the Howie glasses:

Vintage Wayfarer source?

I kick myself in the pants every time I recount losing the last pair of 80's tortoise wayfarers back in 1995. Anyway, I know Ray Ban has the 'original' wayfarers back on the market, but they aren't the same.
Does anyone know where I can find an 80's vintage to early 90's tortoise wayfarer -model '5022'? -maybe someone here ? -Yes, I see them on ebay, but they usually get bid up to the point of being ridiculous, or the same for new ones.

Ok, so I received the goggles the weekend before last, but am now just getting the chance to post a photo. So, here it is! The lenses are amber as shown previously in the photos I posted.

Darn. I just watched Leatherheads and these look just like the glasses George Clooney was wearing in the movie. I've been looking around online to try and find something similar but nothin'.

Awesome glasses.

I'd think around 1950?

Brilliant specs. Looks earlier to me.

Can anyone help me date these? There are no markings anywhere, so I think they might be reproduction. The plastic is weirdly stiff, though. They were an emergency pair bought in a little podunk thrift store on the way to a concert.

Are these vintage-looking?

I just picked up these on eBay and was wondering what people thought. Are they vintage-looking? I was shooting for something along the lines of those worn by DiCapprio in The Aviator, and to add some diversity my meager collection (wayfarers and current USAF spec pilots sunglasses).

RAF WWII Sunglasses?

Just managed to get these from e-pay.
Should be Mark VIII Aircrew - but I am no expert. Not yet that is.
Just thought they were nice.
Any comments most welcome.

Those are close enough to the DiCaprio glasses to be a valid comparison. Same basic shape and everything, but he had silver (or maybe light colored gold) frames.

Of course I'm a screen-accuracy nut. I love those glasses by themselves, very nice. Looks like a late 80's early 90's design.

I forgot to post about my newest pair. I foudn them waaayyy in the back of a big glass case at an antique store. Always look thouroghly!

It was a really popular style for both sunglasses and reading glasses from the 20's through the 40's. They turn up on eBay alot, but I particularly like the lenses on this certain pair. A really nice level of shade.

They are on the bottom right.

Actually, these are 1994/96 Olympic Games commemorative Ray-Bans - so very good guess on the date Jerekson! I prefer the gold frames, especially with the tortoise-shell detailing. Overall, for me it was the style more than the screen accuracy.

Love that collection you have. I'll definitely have to be agree with you - be thorough in searching the antique shops. In addition to your glasses, another case in point is the mint condition A-10a pilots oxygen mask (w/box) that I recently discovered way in the back, bottom shelf, under all sorts of junk, at the local antique store!

Hey Jerekson, have not seen you here in a while. Those are some great glasses!

Thoughts on these sunglasses

I just bought these from a German eyeglass seller on the Ebay. He claims they are never worn, celluloid glasses with glass lenses made in France in the 30's. He has 32 of them, and for $25, I thought "what the heck." Your thoughts?

They are indeed quite striking, and $25 seems like a red hot smoking deal! And, I agree that they don't look to be made of modern plastic - they just "look" right
