Thank you Gentlemen, and Thanks Ren. Ren, I just can't help myself. It's like it is genetic and uncontrollable. Every hat that leaves my table there is invariably something about it that i wish I could do better. The same for my stone work. In all the years I can only think of a very few jobs that I didn't walk away saying " maybe I should have done...and it would have been better"
Yes, I Am confident that I can make a very good hat based on others reactions, ( but I still know I can do better.))

One can only hope James. BTW, did you know that in the old world of beading a cornflower blue bead would be added to every purse intentionally? The reason? Because only God achives perfection.

That is interesting. Native Americans also have that belief when making their art. They make a sand painting or some other artform and intentionally make it slightly off or asymetrical.
My father used to raise German Roller canaries. These birds are specifically raised to be contested as singers. They are taught to sing from birth---just about. Dad was a judge of these birds and always used to say that all of them have a little "junk" (faults) in their song. I suppose where he is now there is a distinct possiblity of perfection. ;)

Regards to all,

J

P.S. Leave it to me to take the discussion from the eclectic to the sublime. LOL

To just poke my nose in here...I recently received a masterpiece myself by Art...a duplicate (in silverbelly, though) of the hat he made for Nick Nolte in the movie Mullholland Falls, and it's a duzy. Family said it's the classiest hat they've ever seen me put on my head, bar none, and they've seen a TRUCK load of hats come and go through our front doors. Just wanted to add my kudos to the pile. Regards. Michaelson

You should bring it to the QM gathering this year Michaelson. I'll keep an eye on it to make sure nobody (other than myself) walks away with it! ;)

Geez, I am going to keep my hat on my lap if I decide to go. ;)
I think Art has renovated or cleaned just about every hat I own. :cool2:
The last Richman Brothers was really nice. I didn't realize it until I got it home. Dirt makes a heck of a difference. The hat is probably three shades lighter. :D The band was also treated with leather conditioner and now it doesn't feel like sandpaper on my forehead.
Whether you need a hat made, cleaned or renovated, I think you know who I would recommend. I think there is a homberg and a fedora to block and clean in the near future. You just cannot believe the difference. :fedora:

Regards to all,

J

P.S. This commercial was brought to you by Screaming Sandies---the ice cream treat that screams when you bite it. LOL LOL

Pictures? What are those? ;) I'll have to take it up to my daughters house (who has my digital camera, though she now claims it. Kids......(grins)) and have several photos made. It's a real beauty (the hat AND the daughter, but that's a fathers bias opinion. :) ) As to having Coffeedude protect it....yeah, sure, like I saw you not coveting Rundquist's Optima collection.....uh huh. (grins) Regards. Michaelson
