Completely unrelated to previous VS threads...just wanted to say I enjoyed a serendipitous, unexpected conversation with Art today. I called intending to leave a message asking about placing a Montecristi order when Art, the ObiWan of hatters answered the phone. A wonderful conversation with a man who loves what he does. His work sells itself but it is a good thing when the craftsman of such work happens to be a nice guy.

I have two Vintage Silhouettes hats to show. Neither is really new. I've had one for a year and a half and another for about seven months, but I wasn't around, so they didn't get the customary showing. Both, naturally, show some character from having been regularly worn for some time now.

The first is the hat that completed my black-grey-brown trio that constitutes my regular daily rotation in fall and winter. My mother also happens to consider it her favorite among my hats.

Since I ended up naming these with obscure words that begin with an <s>, I'll refer to this as the 'Sparsile'

As I said, this is one third of my three Vintage Silhouettes hats. I wear a different one each day: first black, then grey, then brown.

After tjhat comes an Artlite in Silverbelly with a caramel ribbon, a color combination that Mr. Fawcett recommended to my great satisfaction.

I shall dub thee, "The Sospital." It's winter, even if not much of one, right now, so this hat been has been in storage and I tend to keep it with the crown open when I'm not wearing it.

This is more or less my usual crease: a center-dent with light front pinches.

Gentlemen.

I rarely post but having taken delivery of my third VS just in time for my 30th birthday at the end of January, I just have to share these pictures. This is a century weight in Granite, 2 1/4 inch brim. The shape is based on the hat worn by the hard boiled copper from the original Scarface movie.

Art has copied it beautifully from a few photos, I am sure you will agree.

Art, many thanks again!

Long time no come see in this thread, or the hats section for that matter. Art, I just wanted to say hello and say thank you by re-posting a few of my VS hats with new photos. Hope all is well with you. I think it's safe to say that is was your hats that got me started on this all-vintage wardrobe thing. I couldn't be more happy with the hats you made for me.

VS granite, black cherry, moss green, chocolate and dove. Details below. All hats are 5.5" to 5 3/4" on a 52-ish type block (close to straight-sided with rather flat roof) and 2 3/8" brim.
