Have been on vacation in Virginia for the last week and a half. Had a package waiting for me when I came home. Two Brent Black Montescristi fedoras. Originally both had the standard black ribbons. I sent them to Art to replace. One is a light gray and the other is a forest green. Both have the signature accent in tan. I also had Art send me a half dozen pugs. I'm ready for summer! The green doesn't photograph well.

Does anyone have, or can anyone send me a link to, pictures of Art's Limestone colour against other similar shades (e.g. natural, dove, silverbelly). I've seen the pictures of the limestone fedora on his gallery, but can't tell from that quite how similar/dissimilar it is to those colours.

I have one and it is a stunning colour ....very hard to compare.and nothing like the colours you name. I would describe it as a very light Granite. I am travelling so cannot send pics. Ask Art and he will send swatches so you get a real comparison.

I think that amateur online photographs rarely, if ever show the exact colors of hats.

And sometimes professional photographers, or those displaying logos within their photographs, don't always get it right, either.

So basically, the best way to know the true color of a felt is to ask the hatter for a sample, as stated above.

Just reach out and I would be happy to send samples Sir

I've looked through this thread (55 pages, back to 2013) and didn't see, or missed it, but ... what's the ballpark lead time for a VS custom hat (century) these days? I'm contemplating a new hat for this fall/winter and am wondering how soon I'd need to make up my mind and do something about it. Thanks!

Right now I'm about 3 months deep in work so that would be the lead time.
Thanks

Wow, am I the first to be surprised at how much darker the actual felt samples are compared to the online photos (including those posted by owners online)?

I want a nice medium to medium dark gray and based on online pictures thought colors like granite and blue smoke would be way too light and that I should be looking at steel or charcoal. But looking at physical samples ... those are way darker than I was thinking and granite & blue smoke (or even confederate gray, which I didn't see previously) really look much more like what I was thinking I'd want.

They all look very nice tho. Wow. :)

This arrived today. I wanted a vented straw with a patriotic ribbon treatment. The ribbon is red, white, blue, with a bit of tan and gold. But I think it works fine. I got the idea from a hat I saw worn by @RJR.

I do have one problem. I have found out after 31 years of marriage that I married a thief. My wife has laid claim to this hat. She says the fretwork looks like lace and therefore it's a lady's hat i.e. hers. I assured her that I am secure in my masculinity and will have no problem wearing this. Then she started in with the "finders keepers" and "procession is nine tenths of the law" etc. I LOST MY HAT!
