My first Art Fawcett custom. Color is Blue Smoke, brim is 2 1/2 inches. Fairly high crown. Loving it.

It's actually "Blue Smoke" but shows up as a taupe in the pics Michael78. Lighting is so tricky with hats

Ain't that the truth. I couldn't tell you how many times I've had to tell a person that a hat body and/or ribbon doesn't look quite the same "in person" as it does in the photos. I found that the greenhouse at the place in Olympia made the best photo-shoot locale. Excellent lighting, and great backgrounds.

"Blue Smoke" Sounds nice. Bye the way, could you explain what a Cavanagh Edge is and what is the purpose.
Much appreciated

Mike

Hey, Michael78, and welcome! The Blue smoke is a standard color offered by Mr. Fawcett. A Cavanagh edge is a "berm" of sorts, which is actually manufactured into the edge of the brim, not applied during finishing. This option is no longer available from any manufacturer, as the process is costly and was discontinued in the 70's. Also called a "felted edge" and other names, varying by manufacturer. Many $20 hats featured a Cav edge.

Thanks all. I felt that Blue Smoke would be adaptable, for lack of a better way of putting it. I can dress up or down with it. I was really happy with the contrast between the bluish-grey of the hat, and the rusty-copper of the ribbon. Not sure if it's technically copper or not. I like a contrasting ribbon.
