KILT JACKET, MAN'S, NO. 2 DRESS
(SCOTTISH REGIMENTS)
Tagged size: 182/100 (5'11" height, 39 chest). Measurements:
Chest: 19 1/2
Waist: 16 3/4 (measured across top of third button)
Sleeve: 24 1/2 (+1)
Shoulder: 17
Length: 27 3/4
This is terrific!
Cut from wonderfully sturdy wool in Olive Drab this is a standard-issue No. 2 Dress Jacket for the Scottish Regiments.
This was made by J. Compton Sons & Webb, Ltd, in England. It is intended to be worn with a kilt--hence the length and the elegant curved cutaway in front.
Elegantly shaped, it features a curved side seam and double darting on the front. It has two upper flapped pockets which fasten with buttons and two lower flapped pockets. It has epaulettes. It is fully lined.
It also comes complete with its original set of Firmin & Sons buttons featuring the crest of Royal Regiment of Scotland. Firmin & Sons have been in business since 1655, and have supplied buttons to every British monarch since George II!
This jacket also comes complete with its original woven sleeve patches; this is the rank badge of a Warrant Officer Second Class.
It has the original owner's name (McIntyre) and Army number written on the lining, and it has two small holes on the lapels where insignia were removed. It also has a couple of loose threads (but no holes) on the right chest from the removal of the medal ribbon.
Overall, then, this is in Very Good condition, and very well priced at just $45, or offer, boxed, shipped, and insured in the USA. The set of Firmin buttons alone are worth more than this!
International inquiries, as always, are very welcome, with shipping at reduced cost!
