Thanks for the info Mojito, interesting- wish I could make it to Paris... :) I actually have a middy blouse that I haven't gotten a chance to wear yet. I'll have to take some pictures. It's in real nice condition, just needs some buttons on the sleeves.

I love sailor dresses as well! Above is the only pattern I have that is anything close to sailor, it was my Grandmothers and she made the dress for my Mom when she was younger.

I did sketch out a design I had in mind, but when I showed it to my Husband, he told me it looked too much like a costume...boo!

:eek:fftopic: That reminds me that I need to work on a sailor outfit for my little guy....too cute!

 I would make it up in a second.

Btw, people only give you "wtf?" stares because they're seething with envy! I think its a shame for you not to wear that dress, you look fab.

A copy I borrowed from MissAmelina.

It now has a white anchor applique in the center!

This LOOKS great, but I'm not a big fan of it on me. I *loathe* 50s-cut skirts of all kinds. This is one that hugs the waist, bags at the hip, and then gets tighter again around the thighs. So unflattering on me -- makes me look like an egg lol I LOVE the top half, though, and might connect it to a 40s-cut skirt! :)

And yes, I also have this one from sixsexsix! Haven't made it yet! The dress piece is HUGE! lol.

Amy I love when you say things make you look like an egg - it is the funniest mental image! lol

Egg. I have a mom-belly under my navel (and I'm not even a mom!) When skirts hug underneath of it = EGG.

Inky, thanks for sharing! That is just beautiful! I just scored this pattern. I tend to prefer a full skirt, but otherwise, it's perfect!

there is a beautiful simplicity to the Norrell sailor dress.

I like that 3/4 sleeve version very much - and putting a full skirt on it would be a cinch! I've love to see that made up. The red/white stripe on the blue dress is really adorable.

Someday I will make my sailor top/dress of my dreams....
