Many super short jackets in those old photos. You can't really find anyone wearing a jacket as short as this nowadays. They look so cool.

I like that Monitor, I even gave up a perfectly broken in Vanson Comet just due to the fact that it did not come close to the top of my belt. Just seemed a little too odd wearing it.

I've given up on a few jackets for the same reason and just 'cause I wasn't sure what people gonna thing. But I wish I didn't. I really prefer the look.

Most of those guys were wearing their pants a lot than today, so short jackets were fine.

Wartime A-2s appear not to be as bulky. The jacket’s interior, “spun silk lining”,
probably didn’t have the layer of insulation like modern jackets.

1948 Operation Vittles (the Berlin Aitlift); Navy Transport Squadron 6 and 8 actively participate. Here Naval aviators sport an M-69F Navy Transport Coat (probably the most impressive flight jacket/coat ever issued in the U.S.), an M-422a (or early G-1) and an M-445 sheepskin flight jacket. Great collection of Navy flight gear!

I like a short Jacket. could be a reason I like old Jackets. They don't linger on. I've got a collection of old Goatskin. Each one is short. May be a Tribute to a few Shorties is due. I have a few.

Here are some photos of WWII ATC pilots who "flew the Hump" (flew supplies and troops over the Himalayan Mountains in a variety of cargo planes). Interesting that in the bottom photo the pilot has added the CBI patch right over the official Army Air Forces shoulder insignia.
