I bought these on a whim and would be happy to send a copy to our favourite hatters.... but I was thinking that maybe someone could think of another way we could re-use 'em to maybe raise some money for our pet Ecuadorian charity....no es cierto?

Fun find! But it's not a negative, it's a stereoview card. These would be placed in a Keystone viewer which looked like a set of binoculars.

I'm no expert on those things, but I would think the best option would simply be to do a high-res scan. I think the card itself would look nice framed as-is. Great picture.

Steriopticon

Those old stereopticons were fun! When I was very small (ca 1951) our family pediatrician had one in his waitiing room. We used to enjoy looking at the old 3-D images. We didn't realize we were enjoying a genuine Victorian amusement! You can find the cards in antique shops anywhere, and even the viewers can be found. They make a great collector item and hobby.

I thought that's what these were until a few days ago myself. It turns out that a "stereopticon" is a form of a magic lantern viewer while a "stereoscope" is our 3D image producing friend!
