Oxxford is one of the premier clothiers in the United States, and this suit shows why. Cut from a wonderfully lightweight miniature shepherd's check in black and white this is from Oxxford's "Sheerlyte" line, which--as its name suggests--was a line of suits that were designed to be very lightweight and so ideal for wear in warmer weather.
This suit has spent all of its life--until now!--in Texas. It was originally sold by Lichtenstein's Department Store, in Corpus Christi. SInce Lichtenstein's was renamed in 1977 this suit is at least 43 years old--although it doesn't look it at all.
It is cut as a rare two-button sack suit. It is half-lined--all the better to show off the excellent construction--and fully canvassed. It has a single center vent and four button cuffs. The trousers are flat-front--except for two very short darts just below the waistband--and cuffed.
This was, of course, Made in the USA.
The suit is overall in Very Good condition. There is a very small snaghole on the rear of one thigh, just below the back pocket; this is an easy repair or else could be ignored. There is a single thread bump on the lapel, which can only be seen under bright artificial light, and there are three pinhead sized small brown blemishes on the left hand side of the front jacket, near the hem--again, only visible if you're looking for them. And the locker loop is off on one side.
Owing to the snaghole this is priced as an odd jacket, and so is just $39, or offer, boxed, shipped, and insured in the USA.
