Here are some pics for finding the dare code on grommet zipper assemblies.

This is the zipper pull side View attachment 654996

Hard to see without a camera. The letter indicates month of the year. The E represents the 5th letter of the alphabet and the 5th month of the year. The single number is the year.

This example is May, 1933. This jacket has a label not registered until 1938. So the item needs to be seen as whole with other dating variables considered.
awesome. I’ll have to rub some of the paint on it to get the code for it and will post some pics.

That is a Beauty! I have a 40 Below. What type of zipper assembly does it have? Looks like a mid 40s zipper. I will post a pic of mine. Nice jacket!
Love your jacket Terry!
I got lucky with this one!
This one has a conmar zipper

Really nice graining and condition on this Montgomery Ward, sunrise Talon! Around 40s?

California Sportswear Jacket. The Sunrise, as pictured is, is c.1940. This was a very popular style for CSC dated back to c.1936. It was available in Goatskin, Horsehide, Calf Skin, Pony hide.

What makes it most interesting is the MW label. While this was a common label for CSC to use in MW jackets, I have not seen it going back to early 1940s. Not seen this label with this zipper combination.

Terry, just curious, what camera do you use for taking pictures? The quality is great
All the picture above were taken with a Sony Nex5 camera. These are a few years old. When I got a smart phone I started using it.

The smart phone is convenient and can do a lot of processing quickly and go right to the net.

but, the Sony takes better pictures and especially video. The sound is much better.

There are some great images on here done by others that are impressive.

Instagram is a great source of creative photography with jackets.

I'm always thinking of something different, but it takes time.
