4 California Sportswear jackets. 2 on left Cowhide, 2 on right Horsehide. The Aviator in the corner has a Wards label and late 40s. The others are 1950s

That is a beauty! Looks like Capeskin in the interior with the rough out. Is the surface course? not smooth like suede?

The zipper says mid 40s.

Fall here is great weather for a suede.

You should do a deep dive into this company. They were prolific maker. I'm not award they made jackets for the big retailers, I think they always sold under their label. They go back quite a few years.

I will try to spend some time on the Internet later, and I will collect everything I find in a separate thread.
Seems not enough of their jackets before the 70's in internet, I not found a model similar to mine

I got this Hercules aviator a while back in not great condition. A couple coats of Pecards and Urad along with lining and shearling collar replacements and it looks much better (and cleaner).

Also, shoutout to @Marc mndt who recommended getting an old fur coat to use as replacement shearling. Looks great and I've got a lots leftover for future projects.

One of my favorite post war jackets. I've seen a for sale here and I always hesitated, not sure why. An interesting mix of features, Aviator style, half-belt, fur collar, the cuffs.

This is a very popular style by California Sportswear, sold from the late 30s through late 40s. This was a chassis they used with a variety of tweaks. They changed the leather, the pockets for a variety of looks. I have this jacket in goatskin and calf skin. This jacket appears to be horsehide.

This is the only one I have seen with this late 40s Montgomery Ward label.

Another jacket from another thread. This is too important in the vintage world. The back story; found upstairs in an old store, never sold with the original hang tags and looking like new! This should be on Antique Roadshows1 Easily 90+ years old.

1928 Sears Catalog. This style was available in the catalog for several years, declining in price each year.

This is mine. Purchased several years ago. I never tried it on until recently. I can get it on and buttoned. I was amazed. the lining is removed and one sleeve needs to be re-sewn. A couple of buttons are missing on the back. The collar has some repair. The ancient horse is in quite solid condition throughout.

This jacket is 24 inches long

Never of the pictured jackets have labels. I compare the tag numbers to a 1930 Shanhouse catalog. The numbers do no match those in the catalog.

This image is from the 1930-31 Shanhouse catalog. These jackets are listed as 30 inches.
