I first saw this jacket design in a tiny picture in one of the Japanese magazines. And I was wow, this makes a great "Bootlegger". Finally found all the missing pics. Very simple design, the corded hand warmers elevates the whole thing.

I've digging around to find out more about the Shanhouse & Sons brand. Not much info available, but I did find some photos.

Apparently, they were known to make this motor suit.

William Shanhouse was the guy who started it all. He immigrated to the States from Russia and opened up Shanhouse & Sons in Rockford, IL. If this dude was from Russia, he must be a Trotsky fan then among other makers, clothing in general and leather specifically, of this era (mostly Eastern Europeans immigrants???) given all the Union made tags we found in these jackets (proletariat!!!). He was buried in Chicago alongside his family.

i came across this 1940s Roughout Leather Welding Jacket that was made by Hodkins Glove Co, i did a little googling to discover they started in 1875 and this letter from the factory in 1913 is available on ebay.

I've got afew "American" leather jackets but I much prefer Sweden/Switzerland leather coats because of their use of goatskin in most of their military/police coats.

The exception to my dislike of horsehide is this Buco "Trojan D Pocket "

LOL. You don’t see too many Buco with zip in liners. This thing was likely made in China and isn’t worth a single slice of Kraft American cheese.
