Snow on Thanksgiving here in Michigan and nice cold temps had me wearing my 25th FIS red cap, 100 % wool, and warm, but lacking in ear protection. Went to the store with my wife, Lynne and our eldest, Gabe, to get him a few things at the Target store. While he tried on some stuff, I studied the array of hats they had. Found this vintage looking men's brimmed cap with fold over ear cover for $15. Classic Michigan Outdoors look to it and nice and toasty for walking to work and back in frigid winter temps to come. The Vintage look has so many aspects, and this cap has a look I love

So who are you going to give it to? Better hurry and give it away while you still need it!

:D Just kidding, Dean. Looks good and warm, and it suits you.

That hat just screams, "Let's go ice fishing!" I can see you with a 2 foot pole in hand, 82 lbs of clothing around your body, sitting on an upturned bucket with your back to the wind, yanking perch out of a hole in the ice.
Now that's a vintage pastime that sunbelters can hardly imagine!

You said it exactly, dher, but sad to say, or glad to say, I only went ice fishing once with my father-in-law the first year Lynne and I got married. Awfully boring way to spend four hours sitting on thankfully padded stool in a 5x5x8' shack staring at a hole in the ice and catching nothing! Vintage winter headwear is something I really think I'd like to start collecting. I've seen quite a bit on golden period films and the practical side of it appeals to me.

Dean, That's a great looking winter cap. I bought one like it at aTarget in Dallas a few years ago. Not much chance to wear it here but it is a warm cap when you need one.

Thanks, Carter, I wore it today and even had to fold the ear flaps down due to the wind. Very nice cap for cold weather.

Does it matter?
If you want a vintage looking cap get a Stormy Kromer. The design has been around 104 years. Can't get much more vintage than that. I know where you can get one too.
