Selling a gorgeous vintage Lock & Co Hatters Open Crown Fedora from 1969 made of genuine long beaver fur felt in a beautiful honey brown shifting color with olive green grosgrain band and beautifully constructed satin lining. It is in perfect condition and 100 % handcrafted. The lining is stamped with Lock & Co Hatters, St. James’s Street, London and Eric Skoglund’s exclusive brand. The brown leather sweatband is stamped with Lock & Co letters in gold as well.
The style is timeless and versatile, creating an elegant and time honored “wave” shape. It was made at a point in time when pure craftsmanship was an honored skill and in high demand. A vintage exclusive hat such as this one, can’t be compared to any of the Lock & Co or Christie’s hats produced today as the skill level and quality of craftsmanship is like night and day. To make such a hat today is too costly for the company and retail price would end up at over €1000 for the customer. The only option for equal quality is to go to a custom or bespoke hatter, such as Optimo or others where prices start from €1300 and up for a fedora free from chemicals and made from 100 % beaver.
