Hey there, got this vintage hunting bag quite a while ago but never really got to use it but I’m planning to. Should I wash it? Also anyone has info on this one? Seller claimed it is 30’s to 40’s French hunting bag.

if it were mine, I'd do my best to isolate the leather with plastic wrap and packing tape, and then I'd hand wash the rest of it by dipping it in soapy water, working it with my fingers, and then carefully running water over it. I'd have plans to treat the leather with conditioner and proofing anyway, so might as well clean the cloth to some degree. you could also you leather cleaner before conditioning it. Lexol sells a decent cleaner that is readily available.

Ok I will do that! Yeah I got Lexol and Pecards for the leather, I love it but it looks too dirty to use it hahahaha Thanks!

Nice bag. Scrub the canvas parts with a mild soap solution and a scrub brush, and when air dried (Dont heat it to dry), you can oil/ wax it with something like snoseal like a Barbour jacket, or spray it with scotchgard waterproofing. Scrub the leather with saddle soap and then buff off when dry and put on a couple coats of carnuba wax

Thank you so much Rick! I will do as you said, I just need motivation for that big project!
