I think something like a purse would go down well with the ladies, as it will be really individual if you take care choosing it, but not neccessarily *too* noticable, incase they feel self conscious about having something different from the 'norm'.

Most ladies like a nice purse, whether it be an evening or day bag, but evening bags always get more brownie points!

I never bother because they will never get the glee out of it you want them to because its something that is close to you.

Im a sentimental gift giver anyway. I put a lot of thought into what I give and most of the time they like it a lot, but I rarely get that reaction Im looking for. What that is, Im not sure

I haven't and I probably only would if I know the person well enough to know that it could help spark some interest they may just have discovered to help them get started. Otherwise it would be a bit like forcing my gothic or gaudy Bollywood tastes (very opposite I knowlol ) on someone else who prefers simple modern things, minimalist design, in neutral or "Easter happy" colors.

Vintage things that are timeless in design might be safe gifts for anyone. Sometimes certain vintage things are trendy but then you can usually buy something retro and leave the genuine vintage for those of us who are passionate about it.:)
