How about "Elba"? That was the name of one of my dad's best friends from his youth (born 1912) and through his whole life.

My grandparents names, which I really like - Winston and Lucille, also Norma, Eloise, Olive, Luverne, Bernard, Hugh, Anita. I am very partial to Olive.

My name is Virginia--I'm in high school--and I have yet to meet someone named Virginia under the age of 50. Equally uncommon is my nickname, Ginny (spelt that way, I mean. I run into a lot of "Jennys" and it's very frustrating--no one pronounces my name right!). I was thrilled as a kid when my grandma, a doll collector, introduced me to the Ginny dolls of the 50s. :D

ETA:

My grandma's name is Patsy (I've run into a lot of middle-aged Pats, but no younger ones!) and I have old relatives named Cordie, Patty, Violet, Marvin, Eleanor, Sherman, Aldine, and Lee.

I had an uncle named Euan (pron. you-an), born in the late 30's or so, an aunt Lurline. My maternal grandmother was named Inez and I have met a younger Inez apart from her

My daughter when she was younger went to a Catholic primary school with over 600 students, there wasn't a single Mary or Joseph amongst them

My brother named his son Edward, so he could call him Ned

I've known a number of Claires, Floyds and even a fellow with the first name of Hendrix (twin brother of Floyd) but I've never met a Dudley.

Mortimer.

Not to hijack this thread, but it reminded me of some funny names from TV. Who remembers "Dash Riprock" and "Bolt Upright" from The Beverly Hillbillies!

And of course George's porn star name from Seinfeld, "Buck Naked."

I always thought the first name for a boy of Gale (as in Gale Gordon) was unusual
