Where to find Vintage Eyeglasses in Los angeles?

I am in the market for another pair of vintage glasses. I am looking for some cool browline combination glasses with some neat swirly/rhinestone action.

I have bought frames from Old Focals in Pasadena before, and will continue to return to check out their new arrivals, but can anyone recommend to me any other vintage stores in the Los angeles area that carry a good selection of frames? (or for that matter, any good stores in San Francisco or Seattle for when I'm in town?)

You might want to check what Allyn Scura has in stock, as, they have loads of vintage frames that can have lenses put into them, and I think they can even do the lenses for you depending upon your prescription. They're at The Vintage Fashion Expo in Santa Monica, the next one is in April. Below is a link to their website:

VI Eyeglasses are on their way... hooray!!

I found a pair of 1940's eyeglasses at the Vintage Fashion Expo in SF 3/21. I was told to see Allyn Scura for vintage eyeglasses, and that they would be at the show. So I brought my current prescription with me. Just got the email notice that my glasses have been shipped via UPS and should arrive tomorrow.

Mine are gold frame American Optical-Liner I believe.

PICTURE of vintage 40s eyeglasses

Had to have DH snap a picture last night, the box was on the door step after we got back from our Good Friday services. Sorry, but I couldn't get to posting this here until now. The hat is a vintage 40s tilt hat. The earrings and necklace are also vintage.

Nice. Nothing completes a vintage look quite like having one's eyewear swtiched out for something period. I've long planned to have laser treatment, but I reently decided that, in the meantime, I'm going to acquire myself something along the lines of Ronsir Zyls.

Spectacle Frames

Good envening Ladies and Gents,
I am currently searching for a new pair of spectacle frames (as I need new specs - my current ones are sort of late 80's designs, and the frames are scratched). My favorite periods are the 1920's and 30's and the late 50's early sixties. Any good frame suggestions and or web sites would be welcome.

Check eBay UK, there's tons of frames on there, you could get an original pair from any era inexpensively.

I bought one of my modern pairs from Glasses Direct who do two particularly nice frames, named "winston" and "pennys".

Whilst not being true vintage per se, they do have the benefit of coming with prescription lenses etc rather than having to go through the hassle of having lenses placed in period frames, which I've done in the past.

There's an eBay seller in Germany (eBay ID: kurzenberger) who has some very nice vintage as well as modern frames. I particularly like this new frame that gives you the look of pince nez glasses, but with cable temples that keep them solidly in place. I'll prolly get a pair as soon as I have a spare 40 bucks.

Check around at local antique shops. I recently picked up a very nice 12K gold filled frame with cable temples that appears to be from the 1930s for under $15. I took them to my local optometrist and had prescription lenses put in for around $100.

Optometrist's Attic, which is run by a fella named Vick, is a good choice. I bought my mother a pair of Shuron Rimways from him, as well as some odds-and-ends. He has pretty reasonable prices (comparable with bestbuyeyeglasses.com, where I previously purchased a pair of Shurons) and has great customer service. The added benefit is that the guy has also been in optometry for many, many years and so has seen the evolution of eyeglasses firsthand, and can date antique frames as well as give you advice on creating a period authentic look (insofar as eyeglasses go).
