Yes but...

I don't think the bartenders are considered 'housekeepers' - it's up to us to keep our own Lounge/Powder Room tidy.

The Lounge has been around for a while; most major topics have pretty much been covered. It's always good to have new discussions added to existing threads, though.
...Those existing threads are sometimes really hard to find!

I use brow zings by Benefit. I over plucked my eybrows in my youth. They are very dark but sparse. I am trying to get them to grow back but I think they are this way for good. I want Elizabeth Taylor eybrows.

Apparently Joan Crawford got hers to grow by treating them nightly with a mixture of Vaseline and castor oil. And she had completely plucked eyebrows in the 30s, then gigantic ones in the 40s!

I have naturally uneven and very sparse brows. They're very difficult to keep even! I pencil them in when I wear full makeup, but usually I'm out the door with some lipstain and a coat of mascara. They don't look weird in person, but if I take a picture with unpenciled brows, I appear to have only half an eyebrow on each side!

I think mine are too thin right now, but I can't really pull off thick brows with the way they like to grow. Whenever I grow them out, they do that really unflattering Nike swoosh shape!

Anyway...

I always think I pencil my brows thicker than how they actually show up. They look so thin here!

ugh... I wish she kept them thin. The giant ones made her look so harsh..

My eyebrows are naturally very thick, dark and the individual hairs are long (thanks Dad!). So I have to do a lot of plucking (and trimming, and waxing of the unibrow) to keep them neat looking. I don't pluck them very thin though, I just neaten them up and try to put a little arch in, which is difficult because they are a little on the rectangular side.

Even though it's a hassle, I'm glad I have a lot of eyebrow to work with. I would hate having to pencil them in everyday.

GlueGun, I feel you - I have blonde ones, and I have to dye/ pencil them to make them even show up! I'm sort of thinking of going back to blonde hair, and I think I'll even pencil them brown then, because they are almost invisible otherwise. The natural shape is pretty good, though, when you can see them! lol

Me too :Raises hand: I dye mine when I dye my hair so they'll at least show up, but I also have sparseness and unevenness of you Gluegun. When I was a blonde, I didn't tend to fill them in cause I coudln't find a good filler color, all the pencils made for blonde came out really red on me, and it didn't look so weird as they look as a red head so now filling them in before I leave the house is not optional.

When I was in college I got a wild hair idea (excuse the pun) to pluck off half my eyebrows. They were rather straight across and I wanted them to arch.

I plucked them and they never grew back. Now that I rarely, if ever, wear makeup, I have been thinking of getting them lightly tattooed, but am still fearful of that.

Any of you out there have tattooed eyebrows? How did it work for you?
I'd rather go to a makeup specialist than a tattoo parlor to get them put on.
And I have to be real careful about the color as the hair on my head is going gray.

And you have to dye them before you wax, or else you can't actually see anything, right? LOL Yes!

That thread is missing

I don't find it so, using the Google advanced search method.

I have seen it at the top of the page on every page, until today! It is not there.

I have not bothered with it before because, silly me, I thought the Lounge would be able to search itself. But apparently their search function sucks. If you put in Eyebrows you get a million threads, none of them particularly obvious on the subject.

Any idea where the Google advance search instructions can be found? They are not on any of the FAQs, I just looked.

I would have to say this is the only part of the Lounge I don't like, trying to find info on it! And of course the non-functional calendar.

Miss1929,

I agree the search can be frustrating. The Google advanced seach instructions can be found as a "sticky" in the Observation Bar.

Good luck!

So true, I'll admit i used to avoid waxing since no one could see them anyway and also because I they're so sparse, I was happy for every little hair up there. lol Yes, when I started dying them I realized that maybe, just maybe, I should sort of, you know, groom them. They look much better now, but I use Retin a for acne and most waxes turn my skin red for days after and no amount of ice does more then dull the color. I've taken to using those crappy home wax eyebrow things where the wax is on a peice of plastic and its curved. It's okay, but no substitute for the real thing.

Laura Chase you're beautiful, don't touch your eyebrows!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think that we can achieve a great 30's style without touching the eyebrows!!!

What happens if the shape of the brows don't look symetrical? The arch is more noticeable on one side, where the other appears to me to be more curved! Will post a picture soon. Is it adviseable to have a professional show you the best shape, have them pluck/wax, then all you have to do is pluck to maintain??

If your eyebrows are naturally asymmetrical then I just think it adds to the charm of the face, it adds something quirky, which I personally find very charming.

I wish that I had had a professional shape mine when I started plucking, because I ended up over-plucking over a long period of time and now am missing some hairs.

So if you end up doing it yourself I'd say just make sure you don't over-pluck, rather pluck less than more until you are sure which shape suits you the best. If you have a professional do it, then make sure that she or he understands what you want, that you agree on the look. Eyebrow shape changes the facial expression drastically.

My other problem is that I have blonde hair at the corners of each arch and I think that is why they look different. Also, the lighting in my bathroom is not the best and I wondered if I have been plucking them in such a manner because of the lighting. Time to call in Extreme Makeover:Home Edition!! (haha all for eyebrow woes!)

Also, does anyone trim the brow so the hairs lay nicely? It seems like when I pluck, I end up with these WHALE sized hairs!
