Bagged a lovely pair of vintage British dress boots today at the local charity shop (thrift store). They fit my wife perfectly! I spotted 'em in the window and immediately knew they were really old, and that the ice skate portions screwed onto the bottom were probably totally removable, which proved to be the case... I've treated 'em with a little hide food and polish, and they've come up beautifully!
I found a small piece of newspaper scrunched into the toe of one of the boots which, judging by what we can decipher, refers to the Munich putsch of 1923! The boots, however, are definitely British, as evinced by a photo found online (sadly undated) of 'Olivers Boot and Shoe Warehouse', Mold, Flintshire, which is in North Wales... anyone here able to throw more light on these lovely boots?
