Just wondering if anyone else uses vintage images for the backgrounds on their computers. Here the one that's currently on my Powerbook Pro:

I do, i fluctuate between Steve McQueen in shorts, (does that count)? Also Ruth Orkin's photo of an american girl in Florence, never get bored of looking at that one. Love your picture though, it's smashing!

At the moment this one:
Rita-Hayworth-Wallpaper-classic-movies-6522846-1024-768.jpg

But I use also others of Rita made from various pictures (the ones in a white bikini are quite nice :D )

Besides that also Pics from NY (you all know those amazing pics of the Empire State Building and the steel workers?) of the 1930s or old movies and the like.
I also use them as background for my Natelle (mobile phone).

Love the foggy image! Do you have a higher resolution version? Do you know who the photographer is?

I generally rotate a few vintage wallpapers, ranging from hat ads to scenes from movies. Some of them I've found on the Lounge throughout the years. Here are a few of my favorites:

got these off the HI-RES section of 4chan ..if you can believe that..lol..
The black smudge at the right base of the mushroom cloud is the USS Pennsylvania, completely turned on end. She did not sink, and survived another atomic test. While she was being towed to the scraper, she did a final act of defiance, and parted lines, then sank, thus dying a noble death!

Right now I have "The Nighthawks" as my wallpaper. I came on the laptop as one of the basic choices, which is funny because when I was getting it I had already decided to make that my first background.

The original version is 1280 x 720. Let me know if that's big enough, and so'll upload it to my website so you can grab it. In fact, I think I'll put up a page of some more of my favorites in case anyone wants them. Prolly take a couple of days til I get around to it - I'll post the URL as soon as they're up.

Unfortunately, I don't know who the photographer is. I found the image on one of the 4chan boards but there was no photographer credit.
