Vintage correct belt buckle ...

I've got this old cross zip here (50s) that's in need of a buckle (1 1/2" belt).
What exactly am I looking for that'd be period-correct as far as metal etc?
It's a little overwhelming searching "1.5" motorcycle belt buckle" ; )

I would check out your local thrift shops. Mine currently has about 45 men's belts and I am sure there are at least 6 buckles for under $2 that would work.
