Ok ladies I am falling short on this one. I am starting to help a lady at our local vintage clothing store. She wants my friend and I to go shows for her since she is stuck at the store. I have tried googling vintage clothing, rockabilly, and a couple of other things and can not find anything. I know there has to be something out there. Does anyone have any ideas where I can find info about shows or events in my area that we can attend as vendors? I am in northern Indiana so Ill. Ohio, Mi are doable for us.

Does the store owner know of any? She's probably the one in the best position to know about any local shows. Also, would it make sense for you to watch the shop while she goes to shows? She probably has the best idea of what types of items she needs for the shop and what she's likely to sell.

No not really. We had some shows in area in the past but they have gone by the way side. So regardless of who is there it will be a guessing game anyway.

Where is she currently getting her clothes? Is it consignment?

I know our primary vintage dealer here travels for most of his shows, does some consignment, browses through other local thrift stores. Estate sales and flea markets are other good bets, though you've not likely to consistently find good stuff. Most of what I'm seeing are big shows in other parts of the country. Here are some links that might help though -

http://www.journalofantiques.com/calendar/march.html (everything listed is in other parts of the country, but keep checking)

http://www.keysfleamarket.com/fleamarket/state/indiana.htm - IN flea market directory
http://www.keysfleamarket.com/fleamarket/state/ohio.htm - OH flea markets

Here's an article about a big show that seems to be within the geographical area you're searching - http://www.suburbanchicagonews.com/couriernews/news/810400,3_1_EL24_A3VINTAGE_S1.article

We live in a sort a vintage vortex here. She has stuff piled to the ceiling from families or individuals that just bring the stuff in because they don't know what else to do with it besides give it to Goodwill or somewhere like that. She buys estates too.

Clothing shows, northern IN?

Are you working for Rose? :)

There are a few shows but they aren't plugged like they should be. Funny thing is, once you find one, they tend to have flyers there for all the others.

Off hand, I think the Rockabilly Rebel Weekend is still alive in Indy. There's the Vintage Fashion Show/Expo in Elgin IL, Green Bay has its own Rockabilly event. There used to be an Art Deco and Modern show in Indy, at the fairgrounds, but I think it got canned.
Beyond that, truthfully, there aren't that many....
Did you check the yahoo newsgroups?

Also, I've found references to a certain CHICAGO O'HARE VINTAGE CLOTHING & ANTIQUES TEXTILE SHOW but haven't been able to find too much info. I also have to get back to work :)

This may not be the direction you want to go, but there are always bridal shows. I wonder how a vintage show would do there? Even if it wasn't all bridal dresses... someone might want a reheasal dinner dress, or honeymoon outfit. Might turn a lot more people onto vintage. Esp. if you could take your wedding pix to show!
The vintage hair would be a hit I'm sure. Could lure em in I say!
