Where have you had more luck finding vintage clothing? At home on the computer, eBaying, browsing vintage clothing websites, and such? Or outside at estate sales, thrift shops, and antique markets, etc?

EDIT: I forgot to add one more option. "Equally Both"

So far, eBay has been the best bet. There a quite a few thrift shops and vintage stores in NYC, but ya gotta get lucky. And the difference between them? The $5 hat in the thrift shop sells for $95 in the vintage store. Go figure! (Although I did find a store downdown that had old [50s or 60s] tweed topcoats for a whopping $45 or so -- but the only one I really liked didn't fit:( ).

I voted "equally both". Thrift stores have been good to me through the years. It takes persistence and a bit of luck in the real world but the results can be rewarding.

I voted equally both. For suits that's probably accurate. For ties it's woefully inaccurate since the vast majority have been thrift/vintage store finds. For shirts and shoes, the internet shops have proved much, much more productive. So all in all it's probably a tie. Hence the equally both vote.
