Vintage Burberry’s Leather Jacket – Lamb Nappa

Hello everybody.

I’m looking for insights regarding this Burberry’s leather jacket that I recently acquired. The jacket is made from Lamb Nappa (lamb nappa leather) with a soft finish. It has a classic vintage Burberry’s label with the equestrian knight logo, which, as far as I know, was used before the rebranding to “Burberry” in the late 1990s.

The care label is in German, which suggests it was likely made for a European market. It describes the leather as having different finishes such as oil and waxy finishes. The jacket’s lining is made from 100% viscose, and there’s a tag indicating that only professional cleaning should be done.

I’m particularly curious about the approximate price and potential production year and any additional information on its historical value. I believe this jacket might date back to the 1980s or early 1990s, but I’d love to hear thoughts from those with more expertise.

Thank you for any information or advice you might be able to provide!
If you need more photos, I will be glad to provide them.

To be honest, I don't think it will be worht a lot from a monetary / resale stand point. If you like it though, it hsouldn't matter

any additional information on its historical value.
There is no historical value. It's a mass produced fashion jacket.

In terms of monetary value I think the Burberry label adds about $30 to a jacket that would otherwise go for about $25 if it had a generic label.

It's a fashion jacket in a style that's now out of fashion.

Aside from the label, I don‘t see any value in this jacket. It‘s the grotesque 90s style with dropped oversized shoulders, tunnel sleeves and overall oversized look which is entirely out of fashion and the leather is nothing appealing. Honestly, this jacket looks like a 50-100 dollars thriftstore find and good luck finding someone paying more than that in 2024, certainly not on TFL, this jacket resembles none of the qualities people look for here.

Reminds me of a truly dark time. Late 90’s early 2000’s. The “Ross” era:

The comical proportions imbue the wearer with a sense of self doubt and self loathing fear. Unsure of what to do and where to go. This is clearly visible on poor Ross’s face above. His hands, much like a baby reptile leaving the egg, peeking out with only the certainty of a dangerous world around him.
A world he is wildly unprepared to face.

I do believe you could sell this jacket to one man and one man only.

This has already made it's way back into the current baggy / oversied fashion trends. I see oversized jackets all the time
