I'm pretty sure that peacoat is of a later, post-war model. Check out the very useful Peacoat Dating Guide sticky thread here.

Thank you for those references. I still believe this coat is within the mid 80s. But regardless, it's a very nice, very warm coat.

The dating of P-Coats can be a challenge, my Husband had one issued to him while he did his time in the Navy, and to this day he has not one time observed a tag on the inside of the coat that was like the one he had. The main difference is the one he had said 100% Milton Wool on the tag along with the other information similar to other real government issue items. His was issued during the Vietnam War, and although we have both viewed many vintage P-Coats for sale, to date we have not found one that said 100% Milton wool on the tag!
