My wallet is in danger here. LOL. I think once I see a few more pics, I'm going to succumb. Curious for the US members what the customs hit is? I'm guessing the jacket is around $1200 and I think we pay something on anything over $800.

I guess I'm in no rush, so can wait for that one day when one appears on Ebay. But this line feels like you kind of want it honed into your measurements.

I'm not sure how the customs parts works...I ordered through the LL web site from the US, and was invoiced via PayPal (something wasn't working on the site for a credit card payment at the time). There was one charge that included shipping, delivered via DHL.

As far as measurements, depends on your body type/shape. I'm tall and slim, so anything that fits my body is too short in length and arms. They did a great job requesting the measurements and getting the fit right.

Yes - that is exactly the process - after making the payment you just ping them your measurements and they will take it from there. The otr options are either via the physical London (or Osako) shop or their bay shop (the latter seem to be slight factory seconds at a reduced price?).

I know DHL specializes in international, so I Googled it:

"To ensure the DHL courier can deliver your goods in shortest possible time after entering your country or customs union, DHL pays the customs authority on your behalf for any duties and taxes that are due on the goods."

So perhaps there is an option for shippers with DHL accounts to pay it so buyers don't have to deal with it.

For my SB and FL orders, they adjusted the invoice to make sure there were no duties. I didn’t even look at the paperwork with this delivery, but LL may have done the same.

Well with some quick Google research, "by the book" the duty for us Americans should be about $60 more or less. So not a wallet buster necessarily. Wondering though as I peruse some prior posts, some have purchased via Stronghold at pretty much the same price as going direct. Could be a way to short cut some duties and shipping, but not sure the limitations with customizations. Anyway, the store is a half hour drive for me. One of these days I'll take a drive down there and see some of these in person. My new fixation. Just great. Just when I thought I was done LOL.

Interesting debate, here. I thought customs and VAT worked more or less the same everywhere. For me it was exactly the same as Marc: DHL handles the admin with the authorities and charges VAT and custom prior to delivery. Works pretty well, IMO.
In the old days, the courier would notify you that he delievered your parcel to the customs office. You would then go there (and - mind you - there is no office in every town...!), make a manual customs declaration, pay custom and tax in cash and - hopefully - leave with your stuff.

So, got the Sheep Dom yesterday. Just some very amateurish photos as proof.

The hide is as previously described: Quite heavy and substantial but buttery soft. The hand is very different from any other leather I have handled. It does feel substantial, but I wouldn´t trust it to survive a slide over 10 meters of pavement. I am really interested to see how it will react to rain.
The hide is still very smooth, but the grain already started to faintly show (hint...) upon handling the jacket for a while.

Execution is flawless. The coin-pocket that I added is arguably a bit busy (I think that´s down to the contrast of the beige zipper tape), but - alas - I wanted it that way.

The only thing that bugs me a bit: I could have used an extra inch in the body. I thought about that, but decided to go for the exact measurements that I had in my horsehide Dom. Back-lenght is eactly the same, but somehow the sheep wears shorter. This is on me entirely, and as I am not to paranoid about minor things, I can easily live with this.

I can highly recommend trying LL´s sheep. It´s very different from all other hides, but I am really impressed so far!

Looks great - and I think the length is bang on for this style tbh - the sheep is unique as you say, and it doesnt really compare to any other hides I have handled either - nice work!!

I think wise choice picking the model with that bottom tab when pairing it with contrast zip tape, the black tab frames it nicely. congrats

Of course you could opt for the vegecow for the best of both worlds…black, THEN brown! I have a Super Monza in mind for a future purchase in the black vegecow, as I think the diamond padding in particular will age really nicely as the brown teacore starts showing through…..for the sheep I think the racing green is probably the nicest colour and quite unusual, though all the colours in that hide look great.

Yes, the green is great. But for me it is too special to wear it in everyday life. Since I prefer it more inconspicuous.

Since I have sheep so far only as Shearling, that will be the first choice. Further I will see how the adjustments work for me.
Current LL has suggested me a 46 as a base, but in my opinion this is much too wide for my body measurements. Let's see.

Wow. The hh dominator was cool but this sheepskin dominator is absolutely awesome. Looks like the sheepskin drapes much better than the hh.

I agree with the others that the back length looks spot on. I like the shorter body length.

Great choice to opt for the beige zipper tape. The contrast makes the jacket look much more interesting imo.

Made me wonder whether there were zipper tape color options to choose from back in the days. I can't find any reference to it in the '76 catalog. I think the beige tape replicates the faded black tape as seen on those vintage jackets. As you can see on this super monza, the coin pocket tape is beige all the way while the handwarmer zipper tape is somewhat greyish.

It sounds like technically we pay duty on anything over $800, but they will generally only charge when the value exceeds $2500.

I agree about it wearing shorter, though I thought maybe that was the pattern. I went with Rip’s advice on length which was about 15mm longer than the specs I’d started with, yet it doesn’t feel long at all.

I wore mine for about an hour yesterday, giving it a spritz of water every few minutes to shape the collar and add some arm creases (I won’t say ‘break it in’ because it is already so soft and pliable to begin with) and already the grain is coming out.

Yes, the green is great. But for me it is too special to wear it in everyday life. Since I prefer it more inconspicuous.

All measurements can be customised. I sent body measurements and the measurements I thought would be best for me and Rip replied with what he suggested. Then we discussed the differences between the two. I took his advice on body length and shoulders, while he agreed to take my (smaller) measurements for the waist and sleeve.
