Crompton’s got a bit of an encyclopaedic approach to men’s style which I don’t particularly like but some articles like this one are an interesting read.

YOU GUYS!!!

You've got me seriously thinking about ordering a classic 391 Lightning in black sheep. Standard cow sounds good as well, but I am leaning towards sheep since it is something a little different to the popular hides you see in the wild and it is sort of 'LL Trad'.

The website just has a drop-down size menu with a note promising a good custom fit, but the reality that I have learned from this thread is that all measurements are customizable with both a base and a 'tight' pattern for a base.

Now my only hesitation is how much wear it would get. As much as I love the classic punk/rock vibe, I've also seen a lot of these for sale from people who ultimately 'decided it didn't fit my style' (ie, they felt self-consciously like a they were cosplaying Slash or Joey Ramone or the wife made fun of their mid-life crisis outfit).

It is very simple, if you are confortable in what you wear, nothing will faze you. Start wearing something you're reasonably comfortable and push the boundaries. In no time, you will be rocking some really unique style :D

As you can see, I speced mine inbetween a 36 and 38 tight fit to get it perfect..and it truly is an amazing fit, like a glove

Questions for anyone who has ordered recently:

How much tweaking of the fit do they allow? Is it like Areo where you pick a size and modify length and arms or can chest, opening, armhole, shoulders and everything else an option to modify?

I don’t see Rutland Sheep listed - is that the standard sheep?

what other lining options are there, aside from the res satin?

TIA!

I ordered a Cyclone last spring, and these are the measurements they asked for (and they provided short videos on the proper way to measure each):

Chest
Waist
Around Belt
Sleeve
Body Length
Bicep
Height

I am tall and slim, but broad shouldered, and was concerned about it being fitted in the body while long enough in the sleeve. They nailed it. I think there are some things that can’t be modified, and arm holes might be one. If you call or email LL, they are very helpful.

I'm in the process of ordering one right now. I'm interested in the sheepskin and want the thickest grainiest hide they've got.

"Unfortunately we can not request the hides as each hide is totally different, but sheep skin does have these grainy qualities and is the thicker of the hides we offer."

Furthermore I like the vintage look of the beige zipper tape.

"They are available in black or beige zip tape, the beige tip tape is the same as in the pictures."

We didn't discuss sizing yet.

Eh. He started out as an interesting blog. Now it’s just a means to do product placement and get sent free clothes.

Just got my VegeCow Dominator. Opened it up, snapped a couple pics and decided to upload! It’s night time so not the best but I’ll upload some more soon! The fit is perfect!

This hide is something else! Stunning even on these night photos. Please upload more!

What back length did you spec the jacket?

I received a custom black badalassi “Slim fit MC” jacket (their own version of the Ridley offered by Thurston) from Aero yesterday - the leather has some similarities to the LL Dominator, in terms of hand, grain etc - the former is heavier and the colourtone is more black, with the teacore undertone of the latter giving it a hint of brown in some lights - although this seems to switch depending on the lighting, with the LL being more black and the Aero seemingly having a hint of brown in other lights. Both are really great and I am delighted with the pair of them - badalassi is by far Aero's best leather in my opinion, and the vegtan leather LL offer is their best (though the vegtan sheep is very close). Anyway, I thought I would share these photos in case you are interested - I went with brown zip tape on both to give them the more vintage vibe - in the closeup side by side photo the Aero is on the left with the “blacker” colour evident in this light, and the Dominator on the right. Both were custom fits and for the Aero I tweaked the base model, as I wanted a fairly clean front and back, but with epaulettes and the mouton Irvin collar to give it a bit of extra oomph - I think it works nicely as a moto/aviator crossover…
