Here's a vintage sheepskin LL. It's indeed relatively heavy/thick, not much grain. Judging by the photo's, pretty similar to today's 'Rutland'.How do you know this? Look up older LL sheepskin jackets, they were made from fairly heavy smooth hide much like the Rutland and much different to the thinner grainier sheepskin you see on most recent jackets. I‘m only guessing here, so if you have reliable information..
Veg cow was never a default option, they added it only a few years ago due to the interest in veg tanned leather as far as I am aware.
And they are now adding a veg tan HH that will have the same upcharge.
Awesome jacket. Did you request for the square brand batch, or does that come standards nowadays? Here are a few shots of the Super Phantom jacket in vegtan sheep in their racing green, in case it helps for comparison - this is not the Rutland sheep btw, but the standard price offering. Hi Marc,Awesome jacket. Did you request for the square brand batch, or does that come standards nowadays?
I have plans for a LL Western in the blue sheep as my next cab off the rank - it will be interesting to compare with your Vegecow version as they age!I must admit, that square patch suits your jacket very well! the leather looks great by the way, cant get over how awesome regular sheep looks.
None of my Jackets have the patch included but I will make an exception for the Western in Vegecow I have coming in. I think the Square patch would suit it the best and it has some sharp lines and angles in its pattern.
Salmosalar how many do you have?! this would be my third Lewis, got a good mix of other brands but this is top 3 for sure. What really converted me was that Vegecow, honestly i had never seen cowhide that beautiful on par with the best Japanese horsehide teacore makers.I have plans for a LL Western in the blue sheep as my next cab off the rank - it will be interesting to compare with your Vegecow version as they age!
I have 8 - the Western would make it 9! A mix of vintage and new custom versions - I started out with the former but found it a bit of a lottery, so went custom afterwards and every one of those has been excellent in terms of quality and fit - though very different flavours. I am paRtial to the colourful racers they do, but these are all in HH, whereas the very nicest hides are limited to black and more muted colours. I think the sheep and vegcow are among the very top hides I have encountered - up there with badalassi. The ones I have are listed below -Salmosalar how many do you have?! this would be my third Lewis, got a good mix of other brands but this is top 3 for sure. Very nice! LL do an amazing job with the custom fits and that is a fantastic leather - my green sheep Super Phantom is my most comfortable jacket, but also one of the most snug fits - like a glove - I'm sure they will do a fantastic job for you too! What an awesome collection. I think you need a red one too
Last week I ordered my fourth, a Cyclone in British racing green sheepskin. My first custom order from LL. Can't wait to see the green sheepskin in the flesh.
