@Damon141 , where do you live?
I live in Florida unfortunately which is not near any of the great custom shops. Or great stores like standard and strange, self edge, rivet and hide, the stronghold. Some of you are lucky to live in California or New York with these stores or let’s say you are in Oregon you could pop into langlitz.

No response today but I’ll just keep waiting because hopefully he is consulting with someone there with more knowledge about fitting and will get back to me with a better response after that detailed email I sent explaining that his measurements are off and giving advice my thoughts on measurements.

I can wait, no big deal but if it’s wrong again or I get a short response then I will contact management and explain the incompetence of the situation, I’ll ask if anyone is still able to size a jacket. If not I will move to another maker and down the road get a Lewis when things are better.

Definitely do not commit to a jacket unless you have satisfied all your questions and doubts with the LL team as all of us that have ordered with them have done.

Have you tried calling the London Shop directly to talk measurements?

I will make sure I feel completely comfortable.

Forgive me but I’m not sure I understand your question.
order placed standard way on 5/1, then after not hearing from them by 5/6, I contacted through the contact form with my order number by the advice of a member. AKI responded that night apologizing and followed up again the following day with wrong measurements. I contacted this past Sunday & haven’t heard back since, yesterday I sent another message asking if everything was okay.

Is there a better way to contact them that you would recommend?
I’m all ears and open to all suggestions

On a positive note the tiger patch is back in stock, thank goodness

I meant have you tried calling them via telephone instead of sticking to email communcations?

Their phone number on their website is shown as: +44 - (0)207 636 4314

When I called to ask about getting a jacket sans patch, I had a great conversation with the person in the store. A phone call still solves many problems.
Yeah I’m calling first thing tomorrow to speak to someone because I find it extremely hard to believe that RIP is the only person who can recommend sizing. This seems like a relatively large company so to have only one guy that can size a jacket seems ridiculous. Don’t these guys produce a complete different look me if jackets for Japan under the Lewis brand and 666?

Honestly he might just handle the email correspondence and probably throw in the position abruptly

The Boss!
Idk why but that cracked me up
I pictured myself calling and saying “I demand to speak to the boss “

What crazy timing, while I was twiddling my thumbs watching and reading about the recent experiences with LL and seeing one great jacket after another, I just picked the time when they lost their best man.

I kept trying to decide on Super Sportsman or Dominator, then when I saw the green MrProper had I wanted that color and also knew the Navy Sheep would be equally as nice, then I squeezed a little more to upgrade to Veg Cow

I mean that’s not really a big deal. Tons of us have ordered from Thurston while nowhere near Seattle.

You could just cancel your order with Lewis direct (IMO, even if it ends up fitting perfectly, you’re at a point now where you’re so full of doubts that you’re going to think it doesn’t fit.) and contact Stronghold, ask if they could send you the jacket you want in the stock size they think would fit, with the intention of placing a custom order through them. Easy.

Lewis is not huge. And no, they don’t produce “a complete different look” for Japan like Langlitz does. There are no Lewis Japan exclusive items. There is a Lewis Japan cut, like there’s an Aero Japan cut; in both cases you can get both cuts in the UK HQ too.

Definitely not a large company, i went to the store regularly when i lived in London, the place is small, they usually have two people there.
Back when i ordered my LL in 2013 they had two people working the store, and two guys making the jackets in a separate workshop and Derek, for a total of 5 working there. Back then my custom Dominator cost 475GBP!
I'm sure the company has expanded since then, but it is definitely not a large business.
It is much smaller than Aero for example and that's already considered a small familly business.

Personally i never had a great experience with Derek the boss, i found him a bit dismissive, i got on much better with his right hand man, whom i unfortunately can't remember the name. (bald guy who was always at the store)

That was a typo. It was supposed to say a complete different “LINE” of jackets for Japan, slim versions of the Lewis jackets . I guess they are smaller than they appear since Carlos has been in person.

My doubts are just with the person handling the email exchange sizing, not with the company as I’m sure they can get it right as they produce jackets for worldwide distribution. The reason I’m sharing this order with the board is to help others considering an order to be cautious and not accept the recommendation on sizing unless they are sure. There are many more lurkers than posting members that use this board as a resource and it’s only fair they are made aware of these problems.

I myself won’t confirm an order unless I’m sure it will fit. I have no problem asking for their acceptable margin of error on the measurements and doing this will ensure if my jacket arrives with the wrong measurements then they will take it back even if it’s not there policy, credit card companies are great at siding with a righteous customer.

Also I have no interest in The Stronghold, their price is higher, they don’t stock Veg Cow, they don’t even have a size 44 in stock, nor would it fit me with the wide hem and long sleeves if they had one. So that would be a waste of time for everyone, and a waste of shipping fees. Besides that a member already mentioned that their online company and retail are somewhat separate and him getting a refund was a pain.

Interesting to know, everything is not as it seems. They just come across larger to me with their distribution.

That’s a crazy price increase, didn’t Eastman almost double in price also? Maybe something to do with Britain leaving the EU?

Most companies have been increasing their prices consistantly.
My first LL in 2013 was 475GBP, i ordred one for my GF in 2015 that cost 575GBP, they are now around 940GBP.
My ELMC Californian was 850 GBP in 2015 (includong Long size fee) it is now 1199GBP (without Long size fee).
My first Lost Worlds was 1450$ base price in early 2020, it is now 2150$.
Aero is one of the companies that increased the least, my Bootlegggers where 640GBP in 2016 and they now go for 715 GBP

Like most things, the right time to get into leather jackets was 10 years ago...

Those are all hefty increases. Good for Aero trying to keep things low. You could basically sell your earlier jackets with little to no loss because you got in early. It’s like real estate

I had paid for my Aero CR in 2009 EUR 600. But the store where I ordered the jacket also earned something. The price directly at Aero must have been cheaper again at that time.
