Vanson jacket from Insurrection

I just received a new Vanson CHP model. And while Vanson themselves seem to be impossible to deal with, Insurrection Leather, a Vanson dealer, has made the transaction a pleasure. They have been prompt to return calls, get the information requested of them, and ship when they say they will.
I am much more inclined to add to the Vanson collection if I don't have to deal with them (Vanson) directly. Insurrection can handle anything in the Vanson line, and informed me they have a constant flow of incoming jackets!

The jacket itself is very well made, with heavy brass zippers and snaps. And taking a page out of the Dortiz playbook, it has no epaulets and the big, brass snaps are coated black for a bit of understatement. Completely ignoring the Dortiz playbook, it is a Lancer style, which I seem to (see below) rock okay.
I wore it to a venue around here that is a bit of a tourist draw: Route 66 Mother Road stuff.
An attractive woman walked up (I'm not really used to this kind of occurrence) and stated "Sir, that is a very good look!" I just played it cool and thanked her for her kind comment as I tried not to give any indication of just how hard it was to keep my arms folded: this jacket is very, very stiff. Every time I would relax my concentration my arms would spring forcefully out to the sides, giving me the appearance of a gingerbread man.
It's going to take a bit of breaking-in. Yeah, I'm pumped!

You realize thats a sinful post without pics : )

I bet Insurrection turns in to the go to place in the US for all of this stuff. Its just easier if you want it now and they clearly know their stuff. Congrats on a great jacket and as mentioned above...PICS!

Pics??!! You people want pics? I'm still trying to figure out the whole THREE-G network thing. That is the latest, right?
As soon as I find someone still selling film for my twin-lense reflex, I'll see what I can do.

I'm surprised that more people don't buy from Insurrection. Super knowledgeable and nice people.
In fact any future Aero I get will be from them.

Good people and good products but hard to contact unless you ring. I live half way around the world the phone is less appealing than an email. Couldn't find an address for them accept for a hotmail one that was very unreliable. I ended up buying elsewhere. Did I miss an email contact?

I received one of these jackets from Insurrection over the summer, and it is definitely a sharp looking jacket. For the price point though, I was surprised to see that the bottom of the zipper (I don't know the technical term, but on the side with the slider, it's the thing at the bottom end that the moving part hits when unzipped all the way) was black plastic, not brass like the rest of the zipper hardware. Was kind of surprised, especially at that price point, to see plastic hardware on a jacket. I own a Vanson Thunderbird where the zipper hardware is all metal (nickel in that case), so this was unexpected.

There was also a quality control issue from the Vanson factory with my jacket regarding x's drawn into the leather on the left-chest section with some sort of apparently semi-sharp tool to mark the spots for the snaps for the lapels that were left exposed (when installed the snaps missed each "X" by a little under a half an inch). Hide rejuvenator from two different companies (Dr. Jackson, and Vanson) did absolutely nothing to remove the marks. Ended up selling the jacket on ebay for a significant loss, such was my distaste.

Considering the price, and also just how generally good looking the jacket was overall, these quality issues were a real bummer. The fur collars that Insurrection made (I got one each of the white and brown) were top notch, and the jeweled belt was really cool looking too. Glad to hear things worked out with yours IXL. It really is great looking jacket design.

Just checked my jacket, and it does indeed have plastic where you stated, which is kind of a disappointment. The pocket zippers are all brass. I would have gladly paid the 0.75 cents more that having all brass hardware would have cost Vanson. However, I have many jackets with entire zippers made from plastic and have never had a problem before, so I'm not going to worry about it on this jacket. There are no "X"s marking my jacket and the snaps are where they should be.
Besides, the jacket comes with a lifetime warranty, so if ever there is a problem I'm sure they will fix it.

Plastic? how can that be? I didn't even know companies made plastics zip parts, except for the teeth on some lighter ones...

Oh, hell yeah they do. Patagonia, North Face....you can spend over $700.00 on a high-techno-space-ageie man-made jacket with a 100% plastic zipper. Many of the best firearms are now made with plastic, err, space-age polymer, yes that's it...space-age polymer, frames.
The durability of these modern plastics is beyond being suspect, I just don't see why one would choose to use it on an otherwise heavy BRASS zipper.
I just looked at the Vanson website and see the item in question described as "brass zippers with black snap caps". I just assumed that when one refers to a "zipper", one is referring to the entire article, and I'm fairly certain I could get some class-action attorneys to agree with me. But their statement sounds so much better than "Some parts of our zippers are actually brass, and the rest is, umm, space-age polymer".
But still, I like this jacket.
Disclaimer: if there are any class-action attorneys reading this, for the record: I hate this jacket, I've lost sleep (and therefore productivity) because of these blatent lies and falsehoods propagated by Vanson. My mental health and well being has suffered, suffered beyond measurement, unless it is for the purpose of financial compensation. I cannot concentrate on anything because of a sense of low self-esteem brought on by the realization that a moral, legal, and factual fraud has been conspired, enacted, and caused by Vanson.
My husbandly duties have been impaired, as has my status in the community ( not that one is necessarily based on the other. I have been having thoughts of violence and depression.
For purposes of legal representation, the above is not to be taken as the practical extent or total amount of injury incurred by me, nor my assigns.

It was news to me last year when you guys were discussing the plastic. I did not order the Vanson at the time, and had ALWAYS wanted a Vanson.Thought they were always rough and tough. I bought the Aero Bootlegger and love it beyond expectations. I have learned so much from this site. Thanks to you all!---John

Good one...! However, I believe that Vanson is charged more by Lenzip and YKK for this type of zipper; it protects your tank from being scratched! It's an upgrade to the jacket. My tank is totally torn up from "naked" zipper bases or whatever they're called.

Oh yeah!! That's easy for you to say: I just racked up my visa bill, based upon an anticipated court judgement in my favor. Oh, well.
