I have been after this jacket for a couple of years, either as Ike or as Orvis collab. They show up occasionally but not too often, having been released as special edition mostly for Europe and Japan (I think) with heavy duty Riri zippers and solid brass buckles. Many thanks to @Mrfrown for catch and release of his jacket to me. I knew the horsehide on these jackets looks beautiful; what I did not know is that it probably will stop a hollow-point .22 bullet (not that I want to test). The point being that this looks to be Vanson's competition weight horsehide, thick and stiff as all hell, feels like 4-oz. Love it. The jacket size is 36, I wear 38, so I will ask the esteemed Lounge for its opinion on the general fit, and particularly, length. These jackets are meant to be short, but is it in a bolero category on me? Sleeves are borderline okay in my view. No problem with zipping up, but not much other than a t-shirt or a super-thin sweater will fit under it. I am overall encouraged after receiving it last night and thinking it may be too small. On to the pics:

I think it looks great. If you find it is too tight and want to move it on, I'd certainly be interested, but there's no way I'd be able to fit it as I wear a 42... I think you should hang on to it. As you wear it in, it's going to loosen up a bit and you'll probably find that it is just perfect. It might not accomodate bulky layers underneath, but in my opinion it doesn't need to.

I agree, for me too short by 2 inches in the body and maybe an inch and a half in the sleeves. But this kind of thing is personal taste. If you like ultra short (as many here seem to do) you're golden.

Beautiful hide! Reminds me a bit of my vintage excelled in the body. Short but that’s the point. The sleeves would bother me. Going through that myself with my Lost worlds Ryder. I’ve found that doubt undoubtedly lead to sales. But there’s always the wrestling with it. Part of the process.

Alright gotta say I’m so jealous! This is the fit I was hoping to get and it hits perfectly on you! Wear it man! Beat it up. It can take it. Maybe hang it on the heavy bag and go to town. But no firearms!

PS did you see the warranty card in the inside pocket? Thought it was cool to still see it there (along with the original sale price )

Yes, I saw the warranty card. These went for 1,099 Euro then, which is $1,300 now, and could have been even more then... Needless to say I appreciate the price you gave me, @Mrfrown. I will wear it, this thing is a tank...:)

Wow! Gorgeous leather. Really stunning. IMO a bit to short on you, but no so much that it looks bad or anything. I prefer my length to fit just below my belt in front and just above my back pockets in the back. Others prefer a shorter fit. Personal preference more than anything.

Seeing the floor pics it looked really square and boxy, but i think overall it's a pretty good fit, it looks good, the leather looks great.
I like the length too, but i like my jackets short.
You did good!

I like that. Looks good to me.

My own Vanson Ike is my "most tank like" jacket , black comp weight steerhide , but has zipper sleeves ?
That suits me as I ride. The sleeves on yours would have the jacket doing a Michelin Man "Bibendum" at any speed at all.
The sleeves zip REAL tight , too tight for a watch almost !

I agree beautiful hide and pattern. I hear you about the hem and sleeve length but personally, I would wear the jacket. It's a manner if you feel comfortable. Waist-length is part of the jacket style. This would no be my first choice when walking my dogs on the beach on a chilly morning but would work fine if I was going to diner with my wife or a social gathering. I also wear my pants higher than you not much maybe one inch. IMO short-waisted jackets make for a dressy look when worn with docker, chinos, or slacks. I suggest you wear the jacket for a year to give the fit a chance

Looks spot on to me and Vanson's HH leather cannot be touched by anyone. I find the sleeves to be perfect. With such sleeves with wide cuffs it's IMO crucial they aren't too long because the can throw the whole jacket off & make it look too big.

Hide looks gorgeous but for my taste 1” short in the body and 1/2” in the sleeves. Also seems like there is too little taper in the forearm.

Will, how did you size on your Ike (Against your normal P2P)? You look pretty damn good in it and I am just wondering what size I should be looking at.
