Vanson Comet PLU Size 44

Hi all,

Looking to move on my Vanson/Thurston Comet PLU.

The jacket is in mint condition outside of creases where you would expect them. Its from a non smoking house so there are no odours of any variety. There is no marks or fading in the leather and its fairly supple courtesy of the tennis ball treatment I gave it a while back and this has also really brought out the grain in the hide.

The numbers are as follows-

Back length - 26.5”
Pit to pit - 24”
Yolk - 20”
Arms - 26”

The jacket is an off the shelf model so it’s in standard Thurston measurements.

I would like $500 OBO Australian plus 50% postage via paypal.

Hey Garry,
Nice jacket and I would also like to point out that Thurston's orders their Comets a few inches longer than standard - hence the 26" back length. So it's a much longer Comet than direct out of Vanson will be. That was an issue with the older, Vanson-direct sourced Comet I owned a while back & sold due to fit.

Also if photos are not loading, and you are using a PC, look for the "Snipping tool" in the Windows accessories. This is a very simple way to re-save copies of your photos in a much smaller resolution size - and plenty good quality still for FL ads. Hope this helps...

Hi Aerofan. Thanks for pointing that out. The PLU is the Thurston version of the Comet and I think is more aimed at buyers who want the cafe racer style rather than a specific riding jacket. I’ve got a bit of time today to try and get the photos on. I use an IPad, can you recommend an app to sort my photo issue out with?

You might try taking screen shots of your images with the iPad - that should reduce the resolution.

Flashheart what height in feet and inches are you , waist size and Kg ?

Sorry for the "personal questions" mate just trying to see if this jacket will fit me.

I currently have a recent Vanson Comet in 44" which fits fine but is by design a tad "short"

That's a hell of a jacket, Flashy. I would pop on this but the Vanson comp hide is just too much leather for my lifestyle. Darn it.

I'd imagine that'd fit someone 6 ft to 6ft 3 - from 190 to 220 pounds.

Hi GMan. I’m 6’3 and around 100kg. I’m not sure what my waist is but from memory it’s about 40in, I will check and get back to you when I’m near a tape. I had the same concerns as you about the length of the jacket but Carrie at Thurston helped me out by selecting a jacket that was marginally longer so I think it measures around 26.5inch mark, again I can confirm this later.

Seb is on the money with his height and weight prediction. The jacket is a neat but not restrictive fit to my frame. I can send you some reference shots in the morning if you like?

It is a lot of jacket for $500. It retails currently for near $950 aussies and that’s before postage and Scomo takes his undeserved cut.

Where in Oz are you mate?

Perth WA well over 25 years now. I am 5.11 and 90 Kg currently with 36 waist ( was 28" until 30 now 61!). I figured your jacket may be just a tad "big" but I had to ask. Thanks for the reply "big man" !
