Maybe, maybe not, but they will sure be lighter in weight.
I just got Reed's original N3A. It is better than the Monarch I recently purchased. The sleeves feel longer and don’t ride up as much, the hood actually zips up, and the fur is in much better condition. I’ll list the Monarch N3A for sale later this week.

I also got a Mooseknuckles 3Q parka on sale 30% off, rated to -22. I'm curious about dry conditions, which would be warmer, purely for academic reasons. I plan to keep both: the 3Q for the city and N3A for the cabin in the north woods.

Any rate both coats combined cost more than a $1000 less than a Real McCoys or Canada Goose parka, I don't know how they justify their prices these day.

Your N3–A can also double as an emergency blanket, or a supplemental blanket, if the heat goes out in your Northwoods cabin.

Regarding warmth, etc, the thing that often gets overlooked is that irrespective of vintage or modern you need to layer underneath. Nothing will keep you warm if you just wear a t-shirt underneath.
