what did they do cut back the hours or something? Ive been noticing they have a different mail man each day, it use to be the same guy or the old timers, now it seems they have a lot of part timers? or substitute delivery drivers all the time?

and they wear regular street clothing, the old timers usually wore a postal workers uniform

That's because a lot of the postal workers are on vacation right now leaving the new people to fill in for them. I don't know whether this is true or not but I was told that the post office makes their workers take their vacation during the summer so that they're not shorthanded during the holiday season.

Postal Workers Are Concerned About Their Future

While talking w/ group of friends, one who is a postal worker said, the Union is concerned the first step to service cutbacks would be closing the Post Office on Saturday including no mail delivery on that day. According to him that concept has been rumored to happen in the future. My guess would be, a lot of overtime might be accrued by postal employees working that extra half or full day on Saturdays. He is regularly working mandatory overtime which he says is not optional. Read between the lines and draw your own conclusion.

We don't have a regular delivery person. I've seen at least 4 drivers delivering to our area. They're terrible, too!! Our mail gets stuffed into our mailbox so it is all crumpled up. I've had 2 packages go missing in the last 6 months (one was a birthday present for my 3 year old from her grandmother in Texas, another was a package of supplies for my home business - out of stock items that can't be replaced), and one of the drivers actually cancelled our mail delivery. Put a notice in our mailbox that we had vacated. Huh??

Very disgruntled mail patrons here.

I also noticed when I check the tracking on my mail orders, it often says it's been "missent" or shipped to the wrong area and it gets delayed, this seems to happen frequently, the service isnt as good as it use to be

My mail wasn't delivered until 7 PM yesterday. I asked the mail lady why she was so late and she said the post office told her "in an effort to save money to come in one hour later" and work the same amount of time. I told her I didn't understand how that was going to save money and she said she didn't either. Must be the same concept as Daylight Savings Time making more than 24 hours in a day.

For the past month my regular mail carrier of four plus years has been replaced by three or four different carriers. Most of the time they wear the uniform, but one fellow is more likely then the others to not. I hope it is just a vacation thing, my carrier is a good guy and well liked in the neighborhood.

I'm still waiting to hear from a $400 insurance claim I filed in Feb. and have yet to be contacted at all, despite several inquiries. My local post office tells me they've sent it up the chain of command and there's nothing more they can tell me or do about it. I've also had mail carriers leave large packages on the hood of our cars, in plain sight for anyone to make off with, rather than walk the 20 extra steps to our porch or front door.

I was told by a mail deliver-er that they are starting to rotate routes so that :"one guy doesn't just stay on a good route." So, expect new faces often...
