US army parkas

Hi guys
This section is the main reason I joined the forum.
It's my first post, so hi to all
I'm an avid collector of vintage US army parkas.

This is the sort of kit I collect
If anyone has anything to show off or part with please get in touch and post your US army parkas in this thread.
I'm also reasonably well informed on US Army Coats and parkas of the 1940s,50s and 60s, so if anyone has anything they would like me to advise them on or advice generally, please ask.
I hope to see and share some nice stuff.
I will be posting pictures of my collection over the next few posts. I only collect mint/exceptional/unmarked examples

My collection consists of

EX-48-1 prototype parka and fiberglass based liner, dated 1948

M-1948 Parka with pile liner

M-1942 reversible parka with original pile liner, dated 1943 (thin original "chinstrap" belt still present but hidden in pictures)
This one is 70 Years old !!!

M-1943 "pullover" parka and field pile liner, dated 1948

M-1951 parka, First pattern, with Alpaca pile and hood liners, wolverine + wolf hoods dated 1951 (only wolverine shown) cutters tags in hood

Show us your Parkas! I ride a GS scooter with my hair cut neat (whats left of it) I wear my war time coat in the wind & sleet.

Fantastic collection! I have a few Air Force N-jackets (N-2A, N-2B, N-3A, N-3B), and several M-51 field jackets. But North Carolina's warm winter weather has always prevented me diving too deeply into vintage parka collecting.

Nice parkas. I have always wanted a parka with real fur hood. Do you wear them or just collect?
I like military clothing where they have very detailed instuctions on how to wear clean etc. I think more clothing should have instructions like that.

OK - so resurrecting an old thread - apologies!

Here is another N-3 parka - they really are beautifully made!

Another of my favourites - 1st Pattern CWU-8/P....second pattern onwards and the fur rimmed hood was replaced with an interesting velcro hooded system...

This one dates to somewhere between 1967 - 70.

Agree completely and I have a fair few parkas that look like they were used to mop up industrial accidents! Having said that so few N-3's come up that I had to chance my arm and I am glad to say it is in really nice condition....very pleased.

Ok - so another - nothing too special other than the fact that I have a soft spot for N-2B parkas even though they drive me nuts with the short waist...

So this one is a fairly 'vanilla' 1981 issue except that someone has replaced the synthetic hood fur with genuine wolf fur from an earlier parka hood. Not that I am complaining....;-)
