EDITED.

Still going for the color scheme in the first link, but now instead looking at all types of hats. If you could point to some websites I could peruse, that would be great, thanks!

LINK--->Wouldn't mind one with a yellow band (is that what you call it?), either...like THIS.

I'm actually looking for a a hat-suit combo in these colors, which I posted about in the "Suits" forum.

I just haven't been getting anywhere...your board is my last hope, literally.

Thanks!

EDIT TO ADD: I AM OPEN TO HATS OTHER THAN FEDORAS.

Hi Rookie,

You didn't specify dimensions on the hat so it's hard to know if you're looking for a pre-shaped, "get one now" sort of hat, or are looking to better emulate the image you're referring to, specifically.

As a start, there are shades of blue (not specifically turquoise in name) that might match what you're after. It's a tough color but not impossible.

Also, did you want this as a novelty or something in a more substantial felt to be worn more than once?

If you're more after color than shape, here's a start.

Ribbon:
http://www.amazon.com/Cotton-Twill-Hat-Band-Yellow-W12S18D/dp/B000BMGC1S
(This is just an example. A better grade ribbon in like color shouldn't be too hard to find once you find your hat.)

I cannot attest to the quality of either of these, and reiterate that it is a suggestion based on factors that aren't known at this time, such as: Quality needed (type of felt); time of delivery wanted; and whether or not customization is an option.

For now, the fastest route would be that hat and then ANY local hat shop can switch out that ribbon for you. If those specs meet what you're after.

IF NOT THE NEXT STEP:

If you're willing to buy the raw materials you might be able to get a custom hatter to put one together for you.

AKUBRA "SWING" IN SMOKEY BLUE

Once exclusive to Strand Hatters in OZ. They do not come bluer! I don't know if they still have 'em, their new web site stinks! The blue resembled the top photo more so than the bottom, quite saturated.

Tone, thank you, you're educating me by the minute. You are correct in your thinking that the hat is not one I will wear daily. I do however, plan to wear it every year for my/our pilgrimage to the track.

Sizing---> Not sure, but I'm about a 7 1/4 in a baseball cap, if that helps.

I did find one, HERE. Thoughts? Since it's a once a year thing, the cheaper the better...although I'm tempted to go with the one you linked, regardless...cool hat.

Timeframe---> I will be back in LA in two weeks, but for only two days. So, I should probably order online, unless there is a shop in LA you guys know of where I can get this done during the two days I'll be there.

Again, thanks for the help!

Rick Blaine, thanks, nice hat! You weren't kidding about that website. God forbid they let you find a hat you want...or a checkout button for that matter. It's like they don't want to take the chance of selling something, haha, must really like their hats!

It does bring up a good point, however. I am not opposed to something other than a Fedora. The color is what matters. If there is a cool hat that say, Bing Crosby would have sported, ha, I'm all over it!

Thanks for the effort; post the purchase button link, if you don't mind, never did find it...

Okay, CHANGE OF PLANS. Thanks to the Fed Lounge, I am no longer pigeon-holed into finding a turquoise hat. Also, it doesn't have to be a Fedora.

The turquoise and yellow colors are still the theme here, but I think now a hat with either color in the band might look a lot better.

I am going with a white jacket now, if that helps. Here is a link to my thread in the Suit Forum, if you don't mind taking a quick look.

I'm also not opposed to spending money on a nice hat.
