Conway Twitty had more number ones than The Beatles.

Not on any chart that mattered

Number of Top 40 number one hits

1. The Beatles (20)
2. Mariah Carey (18)
3. Elvis Presley (17) (Pre-Hot 100 charts and Hot 100)
4. Michael Jackson (13)
5. Madonna (12) (tie)
5. The Supremes (12) (tie)
7. Whitney Houston (11)
8. Janet Jackson (10) (tie)
8. Stevie Wonder (10) (tie)
10. Bee Gees (9) (tie)
10. Elton John (9) (tie)
10. Rihanna (9) (tie)

Conway Twitty had more than 20 country hits....but they weren't Top 40 number ones.

Out of that whole list, I can only hack some Bee Gees songs! Tragedy...when the feeling's gone and you can't go on....*LOL*

Conway had 55 number ones, more than any other until George Strait in 2006, I think "Give it away" was the one that beat Conway or tied him.

I love the Bee Gees by the way.

LOL!! If I could sing that high it would be my theme song :p

instead, I have to stick with "I'm of consenting age, to be forgetting you in a cabaret downtown, somewhere where a burlesque queen might even ask my name......paying for love and a lap dance" LOL

Wow, talk about unpopular music opinions, but other than maybe, just maybe one or two Elvis, Supremes, or Elton John songs, I really dislike almost all of the artists on that list...

Elvis is the only one that rates ont hat list with me---and not everything he did either. :p

I gave Elvis a chance years ago....tried listening to his music, but I wasn't impressed. I was left feeling that here was a white man trying his best to be black, and that the black singers did it far better

Have you actually heard Big Mama Thornton?

Don't kill me James, but that song is really good too. I guess it's more refreshing?

I have to say though (even though Lizzie is right about Jolsen) there is no denying he was something...
