Unpopular statements from an unknown guy

George Clooney is overrated, and is not Dean Martin reincarnated. In the same general strain of thought the Frat Pack is not in the same league as the Rat Pack.

James Dean ruined much of American cinema by making the "angst ridden individual", "cool" in pop culture.

There are very few horror movies that are worth your time, if you want something beyond blood and gore.

Dance movies that were not made in the golden age, are complete rubbish. Movies about "dance/cheerleading competitions" are the worst in this category.

Most sequels that take twenty years to be made are not worth watching.

Oliver Stone hasn't created a great movie in over twenty years.

Gangs of New York was good because of one person, and his name is Daniel Day Lewis.

Leonardo DiCaprio is 10-1 miss to hit.

Avatar is one of the worst movies of all time. Movies should not have to be similar to theme park rides in order to excite the audience.

I am also not a Marilyn Monroe or Judy Garland fan though I like a few films they have been in.

I feel like James Dean is a less interesting and less attractive Montgomery Clift. I would always rather be watching Monty than James Dean.

I LOVE Vertigo - I can't say for sure how many times I've seen it. Love it so much that we did a Vertigo tour when we went on honeymoon to San Francisco!

Love Marilyn for the lady herself but not fond of Judy - I find her to be a bit too hysterical.

Monty was one of the greatest actors ever - completely underrated - he made some bad choices when it came to the roles he chose - particularly later on in his career....

I hated Clockwork Orange... but I think Kubrick made chef-d'oeuvres such has: Full Metal Jacket and 2001:space odyssey.

I agree with Lizzie on Ingrid Bergman, he makes cinema for artists to look cool and weird...

Ben Stiller (funny?) , Tarantino's movies (I don't think having a fetishism for feet and loving crappy flicks is a good reason to become a director), sport movies ( :eusa_doh: ), you name it...

and I'll add the big round huge DiCaprio's face to the list. Never managed to understand how someone seems to find him attractive.

Yes! I completely agree, Saving Private Ryan was the same cliche war movie, just with more money thrown at it.

When I tell people that, they look at me like I just spit on the flag. [huh]

I enjoyed it just like any other, silly patriotic war movie. Except the bit where the previously merciful guy sees how bad the treacherous nazi really is, comes over all manly and shoots him. Tedious.

I think he ruined The Shining as well. The book is a very well written account of a sane man's descent into madness under the influence of malign forces. So what does he do? He casts Jack Nicholson. He may as well have been wearing a T-shirt with 'Potential Psycho' on it from the start...

The Postman Always Rings Twice. I couldn't get over the fact that Lana Turner was married to that old guy. I mean come on. The lawyer was cool though.

Napolean Dynamite... absolute rubbish. It was supposed to be funny?

Royal Tennenbaums. Couldn't stand it.

Any Will Ferrel movie after Anchorman.

Any Adam Sandler movie after Happy Gilmore.

All anime, yes, that includes Cowboy Bebop and Ghost in the Shell.

I've always thought that Cameron Diaz is a dead ringer for Zippy out of Rainbow.

I'm not a big fan of Cameron Diaz but she was a real looker in "The mAsk"

Most films I see with modern 'big' names in them leaves me with only one impression:

Robin Williams: 'Vanity Project'

Julia Roberts: 'Vanity Project'

Catherine Zeta -Jones: 'Vanity Project'

Stallone 'Vanity Project'

etc.

Neither am I, and for good reason - they never do the video game justice.

My input to this thread: I'll enjoy pretty much every Ridley Scott carbon-copy/cookie-cutter historical epic he makes and enjoy it. I like the genre and require no variation to keep my interest, which is good for him, because there rarely is any.

Daniel Craig is the best James Bond, followed by Pierce Brosnan, Roger Moore, Sean Connery, Timothy Dalton then George Lazenby. I hope I didn't miss any. I don't remember the name of the Bonds in the original Casino Royale or the spoof of it, but I would bet a hefty sum they would appear after Lazenby in that order if I did.

If he'd seen this mess, Leonard Pinth-Garnell would surely end his review with "it really bites the big one".

When my son's home from school and we're on the fence about going to a movie, sooner or later one of us will say "well, it can't be as bad as Battlefield Earth".

I like Hitchcock and I fully expected to like Vertigo but I just didn't. It's been more than 10 years since I watched it. Maybe I'll give it another try, maybe?

Daniel Craig is the best James Bond

I can't stand Daniel Craig. That pouty look he does where he tries to look all tough and menacing makes him look like a constipated old goat.

That Will Ferrell chap is about as funny as a visit to the dentist and I think Ben Stiller is a complete prat as well.

And whilst I'm about it, I can't stand any superhero rubbish, flying through the air, super powers, all that load of tosh.
