Hello all:
Since I am a newbie here, I have a question about dyeing hats. My father left me a wool hat (outdoorsman style?) that fits me perfectly, but it has faded and I would like to know if it can be dyed to restore its color. The only information on the hat that I could find is a small tag on the inside that said......
100% wool
WPL-5923
Made in USA
Does anyone recognize the model number? There is no name on the hat as far as a manufacturer. I assume it is a cheap Chinese knockoff. It is green in color and has faded to a deep brown on the inside and the outside is faded green with the brown showing thru. The brown actually looks like it was the original color and the hat was dyed green. When my father acquired the hat, it was all green. I assume it has faded from poor storage and use. My father wore the hat in poor weather because he said it kept his glasses from getting streaked from rain.
So, i guess I have three questions.......How can I cross reference the model number to find the original manufacturer?
And, can I dye this hat green again or can I dye it brown, which looks like the original color?
And, how do I go about dyeing this hat? Or, is it worth all the trouble and expense, or should I throw it away?
Thanks for any help you can give me.
