Some months ago I did a traineeship in a local museum. While trying to tidy up there library, I found a book the 50s about eccentric fashion from the 1900s to the 50s. Actually there was nothing REALLY special in it apart from some very strange looking fotos(!) from the 1934 and 1935. In those pics there were two strange looking fedoras which had crown styles I had never seen before! The german names of the styles were "Kreuzkrone" und "Pfeilkrone" which means "crosscrown and "arrowcrown".

Has anyone ever heard of them?

I'll try to replicate those styles with my 30s Mallory later so pics will follow!

Here are the pics. Sorry for the poor quality, but I think you still see the crown-styles good:

Here is the "cross-crown":

Those are nifty, thanks for sharing them.

Are any of you gents perhaps now considering bashing one of your hats into either of these styles? Or buying another one specifically to do so?

MAN! When you think that is exotic, then take a look a this:eek: ...Looks dynamic, doesn't it?

Wow, arrowcrown! I can't believe that you can style a hat into Art Deco just by bashing it!

I would actually consider doing just that if I thought I could do it without screwing up a lid?! I think it might look nifty on an OR-type model?! :)

I've seen the first style before. I think it goes by "shield bash" sometimes - it is also quite similar to a diamond crown.

At least, it's similar to my diamond crown...

The second picture, however, intrigues me. That is a cool style. I have never seen anything like that before.

Maybe you've inspired a new trend around here - I know I'm going to try it, anyway. Maybe others will too.

*EDIT* I just realized this is an ancient thread...

Sorry.
