Lauren Hillenbrand's bestselling book, Unbroken, about Louis Zamperini, the Olympic runner turned WW2 Air Force pilot turned Japanese POW is going to the big screen. I knew it would only be a matter of time.

I think Christian Bale might do well in this role. He has a way of transforming himself physically for his roles - something that will be needed to play Louis as a robust young man to a starving Japanese prisoner.

Yeah, I saw that Angelina had taken over as director. I don't know how they can possibly do justice to the book, but I think it was only a matter of time before they made the movie.

I think Christian Bale might do well in the role of Zamperini.

Personally, I hope someone else is cast. I'd like to hear the dialog! Bale is the Poster Child for the "whisper and jaw clench" school of acting.

I think I like him just because of his ability to transform his body for his roles - whoever plays Zamperini is going to have to get super skinny!

Bale got freakishly thin for The Machinist but I've had enough of him after these Batman films. I'd like to see a lesser known actor in the role. Maybe John Hawkes?

I wouldn't mind a lesser known actor taking up the role, either.

Here is an anecdote from Laura Hillenbrand's Facebook page about Angelina and Brad Pitt meeting Louie:

"A few days ago, after Angelina Jolie was chosen to direct "Unbroken," Angelina and Brad Pitt went to Louie Zamperini's house to meet him. Angelina was very sweet, and Louie was completely smitten with her. As Brad and Angelina walked toward their car, Louie called out, "Hey Brad!" Brad and Angelina turned around, and Louie winked theatrically at Angelina, then looked at Brad and raised both fists, like he was going to fight him for her. Brad laughed and said something like, "Louie, I'm going to think about that for a month and then I'm going to have to come back here and settle this.""

Great books don't often make great movies, the list of flops is long. That being said, how about Andrew Garfield for Louie, long, lean, dark haired... English, not Italian though.
