Check out a book called Shockingly Close to the Truth. It's within the interests of the forum! The author is an old time Saucer buff and was one of the "founding fathers" of the craze.

http://www.amazon.com/Shockingly-Cl...=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1283459046&sr=8-1

It's a great read and is focused more on the history of the whole thing with large swaths of it taking place in the 50s and the 60s. The author still publishes a 'zine called Saucer Smear and satirizes the whole thing anymore. Check it out, it's on-line.

Looks like a fun read, from the Amazon squib. And, it touches on a reason why it's so easy for the public to dismiss the whole thing: the believers themselves are locked in endless argument about who's telling the truth and who is spreading 'disinformation'! If there is a phenomenon, the coverup must be pretty easy because of this and the larger will to disbelieve most of us harbor.

If you look at the incredible designs the Germans came up with towards the end of WW2....some of them would be looked on as UFO's even 65 years later...

I know what you mean if you are thinking of the Go 229 Horten, or the Me P1101 mock up or even the HE 162 Heinkel Salamander, which I think is one cool looking plane. The Me 262 still looks great.
But saucers.... well, Nick Cook's book, The Hunt for Zero Point is still the reference I would trust for some plausible explanation for UFO's in the '40's.

An interesting spin-off from the current UFO flap in China*

Guo Zhigang, a citizen in Wuhan, discovered an issue of Commons Daily published in July 14, 1947 that carried news about an UFO.

The title of the report read "UFOs visit Shenyang and Xi'an." The witness in Shenyang was an office worker named Yan Jinbo in the Shenyang office of Anshan Iron and Steel Company. On the evening of July 10, 1947, when she was enjoying a cool night on a square in front of the dormitory, "a white and round object appeared in the sky flying from the northeast to southwest."

http://english.people.com.cn/90001/90782/7064145.html

* The UFO, the third reported in China so far this year, was seen hovering about four kilometers east of the Baotou airport at 8pm, the online news portal Dbw.cn reported today.

And this was before Chinese industrial production could make them more cheaply! UFO's seem to be a world-wide phenomenon. The accounts of the underwater ones -particularly near Japan-are really eerie.

"Foo Fighter" in Louisiana, circa 1923

After the night got darker, a bright light suddenly appeared directly over the trail as the wagon approached a bend in the road. The light was no more than 20 feet in front of the mule. The mule, struck with terror, stopped cold in its tracks, and the farmer was stunned into silence. He remembered that he just sat completely still as his hands gripped the reins tighter and tighter. He described the light as glowing and pulsating and said it positioned itself about five feet above the mule’s head and then became motionless except for the pulsating light.

How does that differ in any way from a foo fighter, circa 1944? None that I can tell. Except mules and horses were easier to pace. Something weird out there, I believe.

Eggzackly.

Stanley A. Fulham is, by his own account, a retired NORAD officer who is now into his 90s. While serving in Bomber Command for the Royal Canadian Air Force during World War II, Stanley was shot down during a raid over Germany, and spent the remaining years of the war languishing in Stalag 357 in Torun, Poland. It was here, according to Stanley, on a hot summer day in 1943, that he first encountered an extraterrestrial space craft.

“It flew high and fast in a bright blue sky,” Stanley told UFO enthusiast, Randy Kitchur. “It had no wings and it made no sound. We knew from our air force training on aircraft recognition that this was no ordinary aircraft and assumed it was a German rocket. However, it was flying in the wrong direction, east to west.”

He led off with ...

I post this after a long night of working the phone and taking the occasional wander outside to stare into the heavens. Stanley A. Fulham, it seems, is a hard man to get in contact with. But then, I suspect I, too, might have made myself scarce last night had I been the one to “predict October 13, 2010 as the tentative date for a fleet of extraterrestrial vehicles to hover for hours over the earth’s principal cities"…

So what happened on Wednesday, October 13th?

CHELSEA, N.Y. (WPIX) —
Several New Yorkers witnessed an unusual sight Wednesday afternoon when several shiny, circular objects were seen flying high above the streets of Manhattan.

The NYPD and Federal Aviation Administration say around 1:30 p.m., they received calls from many people who saw the objects hovering over Chelsea.

Many people took to Twitter to talk about the unidentified flying object sighting, and posted videos and photos of the bizarre event.

How about that the Nazi's got to the moon in 1945 and in 2018 are going to attack again. If that sounds interesting, the movies coming out...

Blackjack: Google "Kecksburg UFO" and also read the synopsis of the book "SS Brotherhood of the Bell" by Joseph Farrell on Amazon. Farrell's book is the most concentrated dose of wierd I have ever read. He writes prose very well but it's a paranoid gibberish stew of conspiracy ideas. A troubling overlap is the very reputable Nick Cook's book "The Hunt for Zero Point" which does discuss the 'Bell' research done by the Nazis in Czeckoslovakia and the Harz Mountains which evidently did result in some very strange physical space/time distortions using spinning heavy metals and high electical charges inside a bell shaped device. Cook was a writer/analyst for Jane's, and not the whack job poor Dr. Farrell seems to be. It's very plausable there was some secret project that resulted in a very uncontrolled space time movement of this 'bell' device that may have been captured and continued by us but from the reading, it's highly unstable and worthless as a weapons platform or even a means of transportation because of its instability and danger. Still, it's a fun 'maybe'.

Isn't that the idea here is that what they were trying in 45 wasn't working how they wanted it to but the research continued after the war by both us and "them". Like Al Capone's vaults opened by Rivera years ago I'm guessing this is just as empty of a pot. But you never know, and with someone like Hitler who had the money, power and interest at the time, well...
